The article says: "The city’s officials say the presence of large numbers of deportees poses public safety problems and further strains social-service programs. Business owners near the border complain that they drive up crime and drive away customers. Deportees say they often are made to feel like convicts even when they are not — ostracized, unable to find work, lacking any family or friends in the area, targeted by police as well as criminals who shake them down and take their money and documents. "Though theses issues are not new, an unprecedented effort by the U.S. government to deport foreigners convicted of crimes is raising alarm in Tijuana. “They arrive in border cities and they don’t have work, they don’t anywhere to live, they don’t have documents,” said Adán Velázquez, head of criminal investigations in Tijuana for the Baja California Attorney General’s Office.“They become addicted to drugs, they wander the streets, they are bad for the city’s image and have become a serious problem.” Then city officials should ship them elsewhere in Mexico, whether the deportees like it or not. They're Mexican citizens, their responsibility. Shame on Tijuana for abandoning their own people. La Raza only applies when there's American money involved, apparently. I'm sure they'd rather have those Mexican illegals robbing US citizens. And since when did Tijuana have a good image with anyone? Been there, it sucks.

They can be illegal in Mexico just as well as they can be illegal here, probably with more profit. 4. Of course they'd just as soon not do their part on curbing the flow but if they don't like the deposits of deportees dumped all in one area Mexico will have to show the US IT'S DOING WHAT IT CAN TO HELP THE PROBLEM, and as of yet they're doing NADA!!!!! Lusilda, how about OPENING YOUR DOORS and housing and feeding a couple of these families including the kids' education, medical and dental necessities including the parents' medical needs??? how about that, why don't you volunteer YOUR SERVICES FOR THEIR CAUSE? You'd go broke in months-I assure you.

Where are La Raza and MEcHA and all the other Latino groups? Why are they not protesting to the Mexican government to do something? Why are they not opening shelters in Mexico and helping people to get back to their homes? Why are they not protecting the people of Mexico? For that matter why are they not protesting the drug cartels that are praying upon the Mexican people?

Guess YOU don't have the neurons to understand that in recession/depression, the number of American citizens on welfare is going to increase in number because of unemployment. Duh. Mexicans in Mexico routinely do all the illegal drugs that country manufactures. I'll wager that poor Mexicans have more children than poor Americans. Americans know what contraceptives are and what they do. Americans aren't sneaking into other countries to rape and steal. Mexicans are. I did none of those things. I'm dead set against NAFTA and always was. The American people weren't given a choice in the matter, nor was Congress. Mexico approved NAFTA, so Mexico is to blame for Mexico's NAFTA problems. But it doesn't matter at all what the USA does. Mexico is a sovereign country and Mexican citizens don't belong here. They belong in Mexico. Period. They can fix Mexico's problems or not, but they aren't allowed here by our laws. Whatever illegal Mexicans get here, they steal. Period. Mexico had best start taking responsibility for its own mistakes. We aren't discussing what problems the USA has. We're discussing what problems Mexico has and what totally unnecessary problems Mexicans make for the USA. "deportees linger in limbo."? Mexico is the country where they were born, the country of which they are a citizen of. Mexico would rather export these criminals and welfare cases to the US. These are their people, their problem.
