I read the story about Christina Ramirez. It is interesting that Christina never bothered to try to become a citizen when she moved here (both her parents did and are now citizens) nor did she get a job. Her husband complains that her children can't move to Mexico because they don't speak Spanish. Yet, I bet she didn't speak much English when she came here. It is not about the location, but it is the motivation. Sorry, but it is difficult to feel sorry for a person who gives excuses and never takes action! Also, take some personal responsibility people. When you come to America ILLEGALLY you get whatever hand is dealt to you. You know it's wrong and you do it anyway. Then you complain when you get punished or your children have to suffer. YOU put your kids in the situation.

Ramirez's family doesn't completely understand the tangle of complex, oft-changing laws that granted citizenship to her parents and several relatives but repeatedly denied her residency. But they face the effects of her deportation every day. Apparently, she tried to become legal but was REPEATEDLY DENIED residency. There must be a reason, so let the COCKROACH stay home in mexico.

Something does not make sense. She has been here long enough to have benefited from amnesty. My sympathies to this family. They are paying a high price for the failure of the governments of Mexico and the United States to solve this problem. However, we have to draw the line somewhere. There is going to be a great deal of pain involved in this process. Americans are tired of being taken advantage of by businesses and people who feel that they have a right to live here without permission. What other country allows this kind of invasion?

Do not worry she will just sneak back into the US. It will not take her more than 48 hours. No one will stop her. She will bring back some more diseases from her home country no doubt.

Reading the article brings up a question. If Dave Meyer and Christina Ramirez are married, why the different last names.

Good riddance. All illegal aliens need to be deported upon discovery. No exceptions.

My nephew and my neice are half Mexican, their father was born in California to immigrant parents, but legal immigrants. My nephew and my niece do not speak any Spanish and thier mother is American. THeir father does speak Spanish, but English was only spoken to them as children. My two of my cousins are half Mexican, only one of them speaks a little spanish, due to her job. She did not learn it from her father because he doesn't speak it either. His granpartens came here in the 1940s from Mexico and his parents were born here. I don't think his parents speak any spanish for that matter either. So the senario in the article is highly possible.

Pass local legislation making it illegal to rent to/house or employ illegal aliens such as what Hazleton wants to initiate. Make the penalty a very stiff fine. The dollar amount of the fine should be enough to cover the cost of deportation of the illegal alien and all costs incurred while detaining the illegal alien until deportation takes place. Then add to that fine a punitive dollar amount; a very high punitive dollar amount so as to discourage anyone even thinking about renting to/housing or employing an illegal alien. Why on the local level? Because our federal government has failed us. "Since Washington D.C. remains AWOL on fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities to secure our nation's borders against foreign invaders, it is not only incumbent but the obligation for state lawmakers to step up and do the job that our federal government refuses to do," Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler PA “The fact that states must bear the cost of federal failure turns illegal immigration, in effect, into one of the largest unfunded federal mandates.” http://www.cis.org/topics/costs.html ALL illegal aliens should be deported as they are discovered. NO exceptions.

If he is indeed legally married to her it gives him a leg up on Mexican Citizenship almost automatically, a little paperwork and he can hold a job, start a business, etc.. There are some great opportunities here for anyone with half a brain. Plus the children are citizens of Mexico if born to a Mexican and are eligible for all the rights of Mexican children.

Give me a break. The girl didn't work, she's lived here for quite awhile, she had opportunity to apply prior to the end of 1997, and she chose not to. No one MADE this family stay past their visa expiration. They chose to do that all on their own. When the girl became old enough, she could've applied all on her own -- or even when her parents did so -- but she CHOSE not to. Now, cry me a river, boo hoo, the husband and kids can move to Mexico and learn Spanish, or they can stay separated. Either way, she's where she belongs. No sympathy here -- she's obviously one of the ones who does nothing more than take advantage of the country.

Even better, she was ordered deported in 2001 and promptly married a U.S. citizen in 2002. Unreal. He must be a "catch" to not see through her true use for him. This one is a real piece of work. We are far better off without her and the likes of her. And yet, the pro-illegal nuts still don't see what's really going on here, or how badly the illegals are hurting this country.

Another Boo Hoo story that is suppose to make us beleive it's ok not to do what you are suppose to. She made a choice, a bad one she thinks now but it was her choice and now it's time for the her to pay for the consequences of her inaction. Her family should be angry with her not the system. Another attempt o paint some of these people as victims of the US government and not hold them resposible for their own actions and decisions.
