want to know why there is a "travel with caution".
In 6 years ther have been 274 Americans die in Mexico. That number includes car accidents, boating accidents and any other way a Spring Braker can kill them self.
Now,lets look at Phoenix.
What nut job puts this crap out?

It is fine to live in a resort, but believe me things can get worse. People were saying the same things about Guadalajara and now look what is happening. You are pretty much like living on an island in PV. In a cocoon so to speak. But once you leave your sanctuary you are at risk.

Here is another story that happened the other day. Some friends my wife and I took their truck with a trailer and 4 quads, and took off from Chihuahua to Mazatlan. About 100 miles outside of Mazatlan at little old man of about 80 years old waived them down on the side of the road. He had his hood up. When they stopped 7 men that were lying in the back of the truck with AK-47's jumped out and ambushed them.

The three wives were following in a car, and the three men were in the truck pulling the RV's. They beat the guys up pretty good, took the truck and RV's and everything they had. They then had the women stand by the truck and proceeded to blast the car with gun fire. Flattened all four tires, then left them standing their in only the clothes on their backs.

I could go on and on about this. I do not know anyone who travels to Detroit or East LA and the bad cities of the USA for vacation. But the chances of this happening in the USA or slim to none while driving to Disneyland from Utah as an instance. I am 58 and have done it all my life.

You live in either a gated or protected community. Because once you get outside of these areas you will notice that everyone has bars on their windows, tall gates or walls with broken glass on top, razor wire, or sharp points on the fence tops. If it is that safe then why do they need it. People need to know what to do to avoid getting ripped off even in resort areas like Puerto Vallarta. They may not get killed, but there if plenty of theft to vacationers.

I could go on and on about the crime that is happening here in Mexico. It is not just isolated to one area like Detroit or East LA and so on. Those areas are not top destinations for travelers. But it is happening just about everywhere. I would not drive from Chihuahua to Mazatlan or PV now for anything. I used to do it all the time, years ago. I think you are a travel agent or a promoter.

But people need to know what to do and what not to do while traveling in resort areas. You may not get killed, but you can get robbed as I have in PV, by a bunch of young thugs at night. These kind of things did not happen where I lived in the USA, but they are getting worse with the influx of illegal immigrants. Sad to say, but true.

Just the other day a friend of mine was in Sonora at the Soriana store. Put his backpack with a computer in it,$500 in cash and all of his credit cards in the back behind the seat and out of view. He went in for 15 minutes to get some copies. Came back out. The truck was locked but his back pack and everything was stolen. Whoever stole it has been trying to get money out of his bank accounts.

This on top or having his truck stolen out of the Soriana store in Chihuahua last year. Never to be found again. The people who guard the parking lot are part of the theft ring. I could go on and on with stories that make this look like a cake walk, and they happened to Americans in different parts of Mexico.

None of my extended family will go to Mexico anymore. They are upstanding US citizens, but they have also had money taken out of the front desk safe. My uncle and Aunt were drugged in a restaurant after being lured in by a tout. These things go unreported and you never hear of them unless you know these people personally. I could right a book about the bad things that have happened to people I know while in Mexico. I could maybe write one sentence about the things that happened to them in the USA.

That is exactly where many of the illegal criminal drug dealers, human smugglers and so on go. Right to the big urban cities to make their money. All these Hispanic and Black gangs and drug dealers are what make these cities so dangerous. So for many of the jumpers that exactly where they are headed. Drive in the dangerous parts of Detroit, and East LA and see what the criminals look like.

First I don't live in a gated community......

Second I spend a lot of time in Guadalajara......

Guadalajara has a lower crime rate per capita than the LA basin.
Lower crime rate than Houston.

Yes there are dangerous areas......

Yes I have driven thru them...

But my children have far more freedom in Guadalajara than San Francisco......

Yes Juarez is bad.......If I am driving thru and I do so on a regular basis I cross the border very early.......

Show me one city in the USA with 500k people that has less than one murder per year.....

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Aquarius

Someone is confused and muddled today, making it difficult to talk for long without becoming equally bemused. Avoid making decisions or researching important information, because there's a strong possibility of getting crossed wires, or talking at cross purposes. A memory may also be distorted now, leading to mix-ups or bewilderment.
