If someone was from Spain, you'd know it as soon as you heard them speak Spanish. It's different in Spain.
I laugh at Northern New Mexicans who insist they're Spanish...there may be a few who have direct ancestors from Spain and they deserve to celebrate that....but nearly everyone's heritage involves Mexico, no matter how much they deny it. Of course, I don't know why they'd deny it, there's nothing wrong with having Mexican heritage.
Maybe the racist types give them a break if they say Spain....that's the only thing I can think of.

Dummy #1, I'm hispanic. I just laugh at the foolish people from up north who claim they are Spaniards and act all upset if they are called Mexican. I'm not putting down the conquest it happened I'm not happy how they did things, but hey I'm here because of them.
