The state department alone lists over 11,000 foreign service employees. That number is public so imagine when you add up all the other agencies in play, most of which don't report numbers for security reasons. Your tax dollar has been spent on this for over 50 years back when we only had CIA and FBI....now we have about a dozen agencies.
