This was also AFTER John Lennon's death (not only death BUT assassination) and we all know how the deaths of artists can boost sales. MJ had mostly cds to work with and he was already a force before his death. MJ is right up there with the Fab Four and Elvis. No comparison floon,The King and the Fab four have revolutioned the Rock and Roll and have already sold hundred million before Elvis' death and Lennon's assassination Jacko was just a disco dancer and singer and no one has mourned him,a few just a few floons were around the hospital where he was agonising Lennon's death was a Tragedy

He sold hundreds of millions before his death. Thriller is considered the biggest selling album of all time. And you're wrong, many have mourned him around the world and many are his fans. His movie has already grossed $100,000,000 according to boxofficemojo. He stands as one of the giants of the music industry.

We roll fat yo, be livin high yo, we be EVERYWHERE you wants 2B playa hater... Now - about Michael J - the GREATEST PERFORMER to ever bust a move and walk around in public with little blonde kids wearing veils over their faces...Let it be said that I, Cecil Rhodes [founder of Zimbabwe] am APPALLED at the lack of respect being shown on this thread towards the recently-departed CULTURAL ICON, and foremost philosopher of our age, Michael "Sweaty Greasy Forelock Shriek a Vulgar Grunt" Jackson. How DARE you philistines think for even a moment that the Beatles[those sad irrelevant pasty-faced ghosts of a bygone Anglo-Saxon empire]could even hold a CANDLE to the unrivalled MICHAEL. Oh woe is me - even as I think of his princely and pristine dance moves, my Zimbabwean heart fills with such sorrow - ...alas, alack, my brethren - the King of Pop has fallen and [oh Niniveh - Oh Tyre - Oh vanished splendors of Xanadu]nevermore shall rise. The hot tears now run in lachrymal torrents, like the rivers, to their source...oh heart of unappeasable darkness, oh ye bands of spinning ghosts in matching vests and bell-bottoms with afros and funky hats...Michael is no more. Oh flow ye torrent of tears back, back in time to Gary Indiana - yes ye floods of sorrows past and future- wail and sob oh merciless night, oh pain, oh top-40 hits of Michael, the anointed cherub of bubblegum soul...for we knew not that you would cross the Stygian tide so soon and we are bereft. File forth ye virgin mourners unto the sacrificial pyre - oh flames, rise up and cleanse the night sky of all lesser stars for the Angel of Music and the God of all platinum Muses and the Mighty Lord of all robotic jerky dance moves has left this earthly plane. May a thousand celestial potentates rise from their thrones and bid him welcome amidst crescendoes and hosannas of empyrean splendor... Yo Yo YO that about wraps it up HOMEEZ - gots to give props and shout outs ta all my peeps yo' Aint no frontin wit MY posse so don't be hatin' no playas yo! You are the dumbest dude on the planet. He was cleared. So by law its not an official title. But King Of Pop is a title that was given to him at the 1989 Soul Train awards. And its a title that EVERYONE agrees on.

Thrillaaa niiight!" *Dancing!... When no one's looking of course*:D Michael's early psychedelic free-form style, so dionysian and unhinged, is evident on his early records like Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Michael also created some great soundtracks for hippie/trippy/happening-type films such as More and Obscured by Clouds. After Syd Barrett left Michael's band, they got into more techno-machine themes [Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here] as well as extended metaphor albums such as Pigs and The Wall. But I always preferred the earlier unhinged stuff - like Saucerful of Secrets and Meddle. Personally, Jackson's later albums like The Wall don't have that element and consequently are less interesting for me. Still - Michael is a master in all ways. Pink Floyd, on the other hand, are nothing more than a slickly-produced pop disco whump-thump soul band. I liked their earlier motown sound - and the cute little 70's minstrel uniforms - but the further Pink Floyd got away from their roots in Gary, Indiana the less I appreciate their superficial pop dance music. Those little shrieks and nasty grunts really bother me too. Don't even talk to me about the Beatles. Who even remembers those losers....
