B-52's... nothing like them, raucous, energy driven, good time party music. Kate Pierson is still good looking for a 60 year old... even if she does swing both ways...saw them on the last Musikfest performance.
Joan Jett? sort of lost track of her...
How about Pat Benatar?
Newer Group like Band of Horses?
Band of Horses would be outta-sight!!! I would definitely go see the Band of Horses. Interpol, too. A lot of good bands are out there that come at a fair price. If they could pay for STP last year - which by the way was an AWESME show - they could get Interpol or Band of Horses.

I saw Pat Benatar up at Penn's Peak in 2007. She still has those pipes, and she looks great - still a little pixie-spitfire.

Up for B-52, but will pass on JJ.
I would like Musikfest to get a little crazy and think outside the box and get something from Manchester sound like Oasis, Bush, Morrisey, Smiths, Jesus Jones.
The Manchester sound has come and gone. The Smiths are done, but Morrissey is still around. I would wholeheartedly love it if he played Musikfest. He has a new album out. Oasis blows! Bush as well. Jesus Jones had 1 good song and that was it.

I was big into the fisrt Interpol album but have lost interest recently. There was an album that had elephants on it which I played at WDIY and it was ok, but nobody else there seemed to get behind it. Therefore, the cd disappeared into the abyss and was forgotten. Im willing to revisit Interpol and would wholeheartedly be in favor of them making a Musikfest appearance. Turn On The Bright Lights is one of the best albums of the 2000s.

AC Newman, who just released his second solo album also would be a great choice. I could see him playing the Zoellner Arts Center. Citizen Cope played Zoellner last year and that show exceeded expectations. He should come back too.

There's so much great new music out there that can be heard on WDIY 88.1 ALlentown Bethlehem, 92.7 Macungie/Trexlertown, and 93.9 Easton/Phillispburg. Stop listening to garden variety commercial radio!
I might go

<quoted text>If memory serves me correctly, wasn't Journey boo'ed off the stage in Philly in 81 -the Stones 'Some Girls' tour. George Thorogood opened, kicked major ****, then Journey came out, played some soft stuff, and got the boot. Had to wait like 3 hours til Mick and the boys got the place started again.
That could have happened especially in philly. I was still in the USMC, but in South Carolina by then so I wasn't up with the local happenings. Journey was a local favorite in Oakland so the got some leeway. Black Sabbath was much loder and heavier and Cheap trick just plain kicked butt.

I agree with the garden variety commercial radio comment. I only listen to either CDs, 91.7, 91.3, 104.5 or 104.9. Which the latter is XPN, UPENN's station - and it's awesome. Sometimes I'll throw on 97.1 WRTI, too.

Interpol following albums after Turn on the Bright Lights were really good in my opinion. Antics & Our Love to Admore are really good. I think they would bring a good crowd to MusikFest. I think Tom Waits would be a good show, too.

I've had XM for the last three years. I can't tell you the last time I subjected myself to WZZO. Prior to XM it was always WLVR 91.3 (A.J. Fritz is definetily an area treasure) or Kutztown's station when they were featuring METAL.

How about The Difference on the main stage...did any of them get laid off?

Joan Jett is the shizz though.
That's REM, she only appeared as a side voice and in the video lookin' hot. How about her as Candy with Iggy Pop (Mr. sinewy abs!)...even hotter back then.

It doesn't matter if we LIKE the B52s and/or Joan Jett - the question is, will they sell tickets? They're both recognizable acts that seem to cater to the same audience Musikfest has been courting for quite some time now at their soon-to-be-defunct Riverplatz.

No matter how much fun I had listening to Rock Lobster in high school, there's no way I'm paying money for a Riverplatz ticket. The only way to see a show there is to buy the exclusive (and expensive) garden tickets - but I'm not a big enough fan of either band to shell out the money.

Have fun to those who go! I'll be drinking a beer over a Volksplatz, most likely.(Or sitting under the trees at Liederplatz.) Here's hope the 'fest avoids the rains this year.
