I am not sure enough people in California care who makes the policies and laws that are bankrupting the state. It would be nice to see everyone voted out that can be in 2010. I don't care about their party affiliation. The politicians need to stop the outrageous spending.

I see a potentialy big legal problem here. How would federal taxes be collected on state issued IOUs?

The 2/3 majority to pass any tax increase is killing California.

This needs to change.

Gosh Billy, that sure was a clever comeback. HOW DO YOU DO IT?

Though, what you're conveniently forgetting is the fact that the California state legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic (and has been for years), and that's where the laws are made, the bills passed, and the people fleeced.

Arnold wanted to cut spending to bring the budget back into some semblance of balance. State Democrats, on the other hand, wouldn't agree to cuts. Instead, they wanted to do what all Dems live for - to INCREASE the tax burden on the state's residents and businesses! In a state that is BLEEDING residents, businesses and taxpayers to surrounding states!

They reached a political impasse, with neither side willing to give in, and the end result is that the state will have to start issuing IOU's to the people and businesses it owes.

Now, I may not be the smartest guy in the laboratory, but even I can see the folly in the Democratic way of doing business.

Then again, were the Dems to approve of across the board cuts in goods and services, they would effectively destroy the base they've worked so hard to pander to. And what self-respecting neo-Socialist Democrat would want to have that monkey on their back come election time?

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Those anti-tax creeps don't want to open up the state coffers to illegal aliens and a host of others who have made the trek to paradise in hopes of sponging off the highly lucrative welfare state that is today's California.

They can't imagine why their governmental representatives can't seem to live within certain budget restraints, and instead continue, every session, to spend much more money than they've taken in from the taxpayers.

Those anti-tax creeps have seen with their own two eyes what unbridled and unchecked government spending has wrought upon the state, and why they need to do with less- not more.

Yeah, I see your point now. Perhaps if just one more hospital that gives out "free care" to non-working and illegal "Californians" under the current "spend and spend" policy of California government could be persuaded to also go out of business due to the ridiculous taxpayer funded costs involved, then perhaps the solvent portion of the states taxpayers could be sold just one more "bill of goods" that would finally bankrupt the state once and for all?

I bet you voted for BUSH once or twice. BUSH allowed the illegals to cross the boarder and didn't fine/imprison employers of illegals.

California business mantra seems to resemble an organized crime business blow out. The only problem is that they did not realize a profit, that is only the politicians made the money, the State as a business is busted, broke, insolvent

How do you run any business to the ground like that, problem is they ran out of other peoples money to spend and are now looking for more.
Citizens are saying credit card cancelled, they are broke as well, but the last to fall are going to be the sub class of free loading generationally dependent citizens that have not contributed nothing but a drain on the State, send them IOU's first...

How about one more referendum. No member of the state legislature can run for reelection if:#1.the budget is not balanced.#2.taxes are raised.
