its doesnt matter what it sounds like as long as it is for the edification of the lord Jesus Christ. Though their previous albums werent christian, god made a change in their lives and created what we have now.

Jimmy you are borderline retarded. Songs about Jesus are equilvent to songs about Santa. They're cute, but we all know there never was a Jesus, and if you don't believe me read a book or watch the first part of Zeitgeist.

Impending Doom is not by any means Death Metal or Grindcore. Christianity does not fit into the Death Metal scene by any means and there is a lot of people who would agree with me. To me, Death Metal is bands like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Mortal Decay, Monstrosity, Deeds of Flesh, Dying Fetus, Etc. and it was a form of music formed in the mid 80' by the likes of Death, Obituary (Xecutioner), Etc. I really hate it when these so-called Christian Metal bands try to mingle in a scene that they don't belong in.

the thing here is... death/brutal metal listeners think that death/brutal/grind/ or whatever extreme metal kind of music should contain death themes because the most probably thing is the first bands talked about death and that stuff...

but christian metal listeners think every kind of music belongs to god and can be used to glorify the name of their god or even preach, and they have biblical support for that.

you can listen to what you want, if you don't like christian lyrics, don't listen to them.

you are free to listen whatever you want, as they are free to sing with the same freedom.

Angie Decay, and Pajarodon:

If you know anything about metal, let alone death metal, you would know that Death Metal was never founded on any religious stance. The founders of death metal such as Death, Obituary, and other bands like that never even spoke of religion. Many of the death metal bands you like have Christian members, and some of those bands may be entirely Christian, but just dont speak about it because it is a more personal thing for them.

Did you know (well, you probably didnt know) that Chuck Schuldiner of Death became a Christian in the later parts of his life? Don't believe me? Check out Death's original logo. It had what seemed like an upside down cross for a "T". Look at the later logo. The "T" was changed so that it sat right side up.

Tom Araya, from Slayer, is Catholic. The list really goes on.

Death Metal DID start out as being very gory, and brutal. And still is. But bands can do as they please. If a death metal band wants to talk about Jesus, then they can.

What if a death metal band talks down on God? Are you gonna say that it doesn't have a place in it, or are you gonna say that its cool? If you would say the latter, then why can't they speak good of Him?

Hypocrisy, people.

I've read interviews where they call themselves "Life metal" as sort of a joke.

They do refer to themselves as 'Gorship' though, which in their words "is not supposed to be the worship of 'gore' but rather the worship of god through our gore sounding music."

then again, i read it on wikipedia so it might be full of shit.

they're amazing live though.:)

DEVILMUSICFORJES US, You should have noticed I have anything against Christian Metal, I said:

"death/brutal metal listeners think that death/brutal/grind/ or whatever extreme metal kind of music should contain death themes because the most probably thing is the first bands talked about death and that stuff"

And thatīs what you think when you say:

"Death Metal DID start out as being very gory, and brutal. And still is. "

Itīs OK, Iīm not saying I have the truth or anything.

If Chuck Schuldiner or Head from Korn (new-metal), or Mario Ian from Rata Blanca (in the case of heavy metal) became Christians, in my opinion itīs OK if they have a logical and strong foundation for they faith.

Wow, i really had no idea that these guys are christian. I mean, im very opposed to organized religion, but this stuff is brutal. It dosent change the fact that this music is awesome .Metal the world over.

although theres lots of us out there who dislike the church ,youve gotta give these guys credit for selling to a fan base thats not exactly the type to listen to the gospel.

i will make this quick. if you are concerned about the lyrical content of death metal music, you are missing the point. some of the best musicians i have ever heard, be it drumers, guitarists, and/or bassists, play in death metal, or extreme metal genres. if a band is christian and they want to sing/scream about christian themes, so be it. but they better be able to flat out play. the same goes for bands who sing/scream about non-christian themes. if a band can not blow you away with their musical abilities, you shouldn't be listening to them. the whole concept behind extreme metal music is the musicianship itself, not the lyrics. if you don't listen to a great christian death metal band because of their lyrical content, you are an idiot who cares only about the image of liking the music, instead of the music itself. likewise, if you are a christian who won't listen to non-christian death metal because of the lyrics, you are foolish. there are alot of garbage bands out there in both secular and christian categories. if you are a true fan of this kind of music, you won't let great bands pass you by because of the nature of their lyrics. here are some of the greatest death metal/progressive metal/metal core/ etc. bands playing currently:
opeth
cryptopsy
between the buried and me
becoming the archetype
living sacrifice
meshuggah
tool
isis
neurosis
zao (old stuff)
coalesce
decapitated
pig destroyer
mastodon
gojira
enslaved
agalloch
candiria
...just to name a few

"Sing to the LORD a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it. You islands, and those who dwell on them."
Sing him a NEW SONG!! He doesnt care that its got a death metal/deathcore style, as long as its praising him, he LOVES it.
O and by the way, in the bible there is tons of gore and slaughtering. Read the old testament. So there is plenty of gore to sing about and still be christian.

Oh, why don't u go back to listening to your church music and quit trying to justify about something your really are not even a part of. Don't preach to me about knowing what death metal is, You hyprocritical christian you. You obviously are not part of the Death Metal scene and will never be unfortunately for you. Also, what a joke, devilmusicforjesus. What the hell is that. And you telling me what death metal is. Joke, joke, joke. I really like coming onto these forums. I know Death Metal was not founded on religion, but it is people like you who are trying to bring it in our scene which isn't, fortunately, not working. So devilformusic, don't give me a history on a scene I have been a part of for over a decade, because your religious, christian bullcrap is not phasing me one bit.
