Money and membership down for churches

Mar 23, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Courier-Journal

Church revenues sank by more than $1 billion, or 3.5 percent, in 2010, according to a new report that also shows churches overall dropped slightly in membership, with mixed trends among individual denominations.

The Assemblies of God posted growth, as did other churches often on the margins of Protestant life — Mormons, Seventh-day Adventists and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Perhaps not coincidentally, all have significant portions of the growing Hispanic population.

@@@@@@@@@@

i have always said that wt has one of the best prodcts offered-- the chance to have beach front property in Fiji

for many years now esp here in the US Branch without the hispanic growth jw would either show no growth or reversal

the wt message appeals to folks who were told the streets in the US are paved in gold only to arrive and see NOT REALLY- they many times come from the catholic faith so they fit in well with some dude claiming he is the be all and end all

in the catholic church they had one dude in charge , in wt it about a dozen

the message of a BETTER LIFE IS EXCITING TO FOLKS SUFFERING as many are who travel 1000's of miles to get to the US promise land they feel

unfortunately due to the lack of education and access to information, they become sitting ducks for jw

now THE NEXT GENERATION OF HISPANIC will not be easlily taken as thier parents were

like many of us here, as the free flow of info flows more folks will become aware of the long track recored of the wt

I believe a lot of people are uprooted and alienated...Because scripture tells us " you were once NOT a people, but now have become Gods people"

So I see the reconciliation message as being united back to God..as a family ..sons and daughters and having the ONE FATHER

Its not up to these 'sects' to publish 'their' growths, because not one of them has the legal right of ownership on a Christian...Jesus brought us with his BLOOD..we are called to live a life in union with him...its never been about 'sections'...

Paul said " he knew no man according to the flesh.."but only as he is in union with Christ

That means when we meet any other person all we should be interested in, is how much he is refecting Christ in his own life.

Most of the time, I don't know what is on your mind. Do you think Jehovah God will gather his people no matter how much education or lack of information they had? Jehovah look at the HEARTS of the people not their MINDS.

Sounds like you realize that you are an ignorant fool.

Well, a man has got to know his limitations. And I don't know anyone who has more limitations than you.

No question at all, some people are ripe to be snapped up by some religions including JWs. My own son was prime material for them. He was an under achiever, he was fairly lazy, and did not like making decisions for himself. There are many like him.

You should love God and Jesus without following men...that is a commandment of God.
For those who placed their trust in God and not in men, He will become a sanctuary. But for those religious minds that haughtily looked down their noses at others, He will be a stone that makes them stumble and a rock that makes them fall. He will be a trap and a snare. The reason is quite obvious. They had God all figured out and reduced Him to the size of their own understanding.
And there you have the WT/GB..they are the stone that makes you stumble, the present day Pharisees

There are also many that would have joined this religion but have been warned about it's history and practices, and the vast majority are very thankful to have been informed before they and their family got caught up in it. Unlike JWs they realize you do not need to belong to a man made organisation to have a strong faith.

Can you imagen how worse off the wtbts would be if they had to pay property taxes and labor to build their congregations?

Jehovah's Witnesses, as true Christians, will always build their congregations for free, so dream on.

As far as paying taxes go, I suspect the churches of Christendom would suffer far worse that Jehovah's Witnesses. After all the only churches gaining popularity in the US are the BIG MONEY mega-churches who are absorbing the fallout from the closing down of various denominational churches.

Having strong faith in the wrong thing will not help you. It is no wonder that so many distortions and so much misinformation is propagated about Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jesus Christ said that his followers would NOT be popular:

*** Matt 10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!

We saw how quick the society were to get out of paying taxes with the Jimmy Swaggart case. As soon as they realized they would have to pay taxes on their literature selling they made it donation only. Which in reality means the individual JWs now pay for most of it.

Just like to make this comment on this post

Scripture states " If we confess Jesus Christ is Lord with our mouth..its for salvation

And if we exercise faith in our hearts that God raised him up from the dead, we do that for righteousness..."

Thats our OWN MOUTH and HEART..not SOMEONE elses...

But when a person says ...look over here at these fellows doing it..but doesn't do it themselves..its promotting a SECT..and is against Christs clear instructions

When a person can't SHARE his own personal FAITH but continually points other people to other people to speak for him...He is not making public declaration HIMSELF...but has used a substitute to speak for him..Thats bad...

As usual Little Lamb is making up rules that have no connection to the Bible whatsoever.
