First of all, What's Victoria's Secret is a seriously catchy tune - so what if it's got a familiar beat? And how could the cd be perfect, yet you still slam it? Give the guy a break! I would hardly call Saint Sahara and Oblivious insincere - these heartfelt songs were written in memory of a 12-year old girl that the artist was very close to who lost a hard-fought battle with a brain tumor.

I really like the new Alice CD, it is my favorite since his awesome Brutal Planet album (if you don't have that one you don't like hard rock) A few of the songs are repetitive but as a whole this is a fun album.

Danton's review of Rick Springfield's new CD illustrates the writer's inability to simply listen to the tracks on their own without the context of Springfield's history and the albatross of pop idololotry to cloud his opinions. Fact is that this is a solid collection of pop rock tunes with a bit of an edge. If the name on the CD cover was something other than "Rick Springfield", this CD could clearly garner a mainstream audience.

Mr. Danton, Rick Springfield's album, Venus in Overdrive, debuted at #28 on the Billboard charts. Not bad for, as you imply, a has been teen idol from the 80's with absolutely no substance. If you had bothered to ACTUALLY listen to this CD, you would have found it to be thoughtful, introspective, well written & oh yeah ROCKIN'. You even slammed the songs "Oblivious" & "Saint Sahara", which were tributes to a 13 year old fan that he was very close to who died of brain stem cancer last year. Where is your compassion? Also, you really should try doing your homework next time..."Shock, Denial, Anger, Acceptance", his last album, was released in 2004 NOT 2003. And try going to one of his live shows, they are amazing. You have no idea what you are missing out on, truly. Rick is almost 59 years old & he ROCKS!!! I also agree with Nick from Newfield, if the name on the CD had been ANYONE other than Rick Springfield, you wouldn't have been snarky in your review & this CD would have gotten the acclaim it deserves.
