It takes about four hours to drive to Monroeville, Ala., but for many visitors to this small Southern town, the trip covers more than miles.

Can anyone tell me what the dates are each year for Mockingbird days in Monroeville when they put on a production of To Kill A Mockingbird? I believe it's in may each year? Thanks,

If you look under Monroeville's Chamber of Commerce, you'll find a listing for the play. If you write to them, they'll send you a package of information. My husband and I were there In April, and loved every minute of it!!

P.S.
Presently no apologies have been given. None. |

Sounds like the journal has given this guy a spot to voice his opinion. If you don't like it maybe you should write an article to the editor and get your opinions voiced. Alot of people get sick of the gay and lesbian community pushing their rights on everybody. America's founding fathers would turn over in their graves if they were witnessing what is happening in this country. We have illegal aliens getting the same healthcare, their language shoved down our kids throats in school, services out the wazoo, and yet they pay no taxes thanks to those same liberals in Washington that say this is America. Way back you came to this country not under the fence, shoved in trunks of cars but the right way, learned the language and became a citizen and were proud to be here. Now along with all these other groups they are owed something. This isn't America anymore. So to my point, why should he have to apologize for his opinion when he has the freedom of speech and a right to his own opinion. So what if his opinion hurt somebodies feelings. Deal with it.

Part of the charm of Monroeville is that it is NOT as progressive as some other places. WE were a bit disappointed that not much was open on Saturdays, but the overall experience was very nice. We want to go back and see the play again next year.

It isn't supposed to be progressive. That is the charm of a small southern town. Don't like it? MOVE. I wish I still lived there.

truman capote wrote it,and everyone in town knows this to be a fact.ms.lee never talks about the book because she's going to her grave lying about the whole thing.yes truman and her were friends and he was once a regular visitor to our little town where his mother and cousins lived. The fact is that the chamber and everyone here in monroeville have kept this secret because of trumans homosexality.Other wise he would be celebrated as well being that he was much more successful then ms.lee who continues the lie and who herself is also homosexual. Please ms.lee tell the truth, and set the record strieght.

You have no idea what you are talking about. If Truman had written the book, don't you think he would have said so as much as he loved publicity. Have you read the book or any of Truman's books. The styles are entirely different. Besides, we do celebrate Capote. His works are read here in the Museum every year and he has a room at the museum. |
