That is not Spike style ...what you have mentioned .... On the same note .... It should be a Black Director .... This is simple dont go to the Movie and make the movie by a black director...

"This is simple dont go to the Movie and make the movie by a black director... "

Do what? If it's a good movie, who cares who directs it?
The movies, Ike & Tina, Ray (about Ray Charles),where produced by white folks. The movie, "The color Purple" was directed by who? OH No, could it be? You guessed it! No other than, Steven Spielberg!

Why does RACE always have to come in to play on EVERYTHING?

Hmmm might be good, I will watch any movie that shows Black people in a positive light especially Martin Luther King. Plus, Steven Spielberg directed the Color Purple and its one off my all time favorite movies.

i beleive with a white man directing a autobio especially about a famed black leader like MLK , theres gonna be an "INTENTIONAL" discrepancy somewhere in the film regarding his personality, character, what he stood for and etc ,
i just dont beleive a white man directing a movie about MLK will be 100% truth!!!!

Because it is little kids in the Minority Races seeing only One Race of people with everything ...It kills the Mentality ....So they assimilate and some want to be like them not knowing that they are the Kings and Queens.... That is why it is a spin of certain Actors and Actress in everyone of his films plus it is pretty watered down usually displaying little truth ...... for instance ... in Color Purple why was Danny Glover shown rocking the bed with .... He played a very sick man ...plus I usually dont really follow the oscars ..who got one for this film...On top of that...Oprah played the role well but she should have got many other Roles in Hollywood ....I remember when the Media was blitzing her about her weight and everything from Stedman....now she dont remember anything ...Dont mistake me ,but she had just as many black viewers as white viewers today ...Tyra is not any better... People get harmony and submissiveness confused ......Some of my people are just lost .... They dont want to be told anything by our own people but run into the face of a white person and automatically it is right... I seen it many times...... Other Minorities dont read into this too much ....because I am writing to you guys also... I will not attack any of my people ..I am culturally aware ... that is the difference

I think you UNDER estimate "your people".
Quoting you, "Some of my people...".

Little kids have MANY races that they can see on TV/ movies. Little kids SHOULD know that they can do what ever they want in life!(Being it's legal)UNLESS a screwed up parent knocks the props out from under them!!
I think it's the screwed up adults that have a problem with their Mentality!

Regardless who does a film on MLK, their's NO WAY it can be EXACT! The man is dead!

Spielberg directed "The Color Purple"....

In terms of "black movies", it's one of the greatest...Toni Morrison was happy with it. Oprah, too. The films quality speaks for itself.
So that, and the fact that he's a highly accomplished film maker in general, makes him qualified, in my opinion. MLK's son has agreed to terms with Dreamworks....

If it bothers you that a white guy is doing it, maybe YOU should direct one instead.

Or maybe Spike Lee, or any other black director could have.....

But they didn't. I'm surprised it's taken over FORTY years to even have a film in place.

Spielberg already messed up Amistad by centering the script around the White liberals involved in the case of those imprisoned Africans. I think he's gonna want to do the same with the ML KIng script. He'll saturate the film with a bunch of Whites and Jews who desperately want to fight racism and inequality, giving viewers a lopsided view of American racism. The liberal Whites who fought for equality on behalf of AA's are a super minority, while the larger Euro-American population is largely still prejudiced/racist. Spielberg is a great and talented filmaker though. So he doesn't have to prove his storytelling ability to anyone anymore. The man is a genius. I just enjoy his movies in the line of Jurassic Park, Private Ryan, Indiana Jones, and ET. Lately, he ain't been doing to well with those Minority Report azzed movies. However, if he is hired to direct a movie, than let the man do his job. There is no law against a Black film maker or producer creating one either.

i got news for you man. NOTHING is ever compleate truth it does not matter if you have spike lee or steve. weather its black or white theres always going something put in there that people will disagree with. it could be the truth or not nobody really knows thats why they debate. so instead of thinking becuase he is white he is going to be biased take a look at it: cause if you think that becuase someones black or white or whatever they might just know more then you think and the other might not. no two people are the same. and perssonaly i think MLK whould be proud if people saw that. and that he whould not care what COLOR they were but a how great a job they did.

The Color Purple was a novel fictional story of is an imaginative form of narrative. Not a true story, so being the director he can do as he well pleases with it.

As said from another poster I believe as well that because the director isn't a black person who can more closely relate to what MLK did for black people, there will be intentional discrepancies with his character. A white person cannot relate to a black person nor can this guy even relate how black people lived their lifes during that time.

Also there was a MLK movie made. It was made for TV only. Lastly Malcolm X was directed by a black man(Spike Lee), and in many respects is regarded one of the best movies based on an autobiography.

You make no sense ..... His kids !!!! He have Family !!!!!! Make some sense ...Plus you are simply downtoning what I wrote !!!! Plus what point are you trying to make... Yes my people...I need not to educate you on Info. you already know or should know if you are responding to me.....It is not fair representation of my people on TV/Movies.... It is not fair reprensentation of my people in Gov. Positions....and please dont talk about soldiers ...I dont want to see that written.... It is not fair representation in all sports.... It is not fair representation of my people in Hollywood....... I write about the so called minority race ...... which my people are slowly .....realizing we are one .....Racial divide was created by white Men ...... However ...White Men mix with anything is still dark skin people it is just that...... White people are the Ones who discriminated and made the One percent rule and other lame rules and want racial harmony ,but they consider themselves so smart......... Martin Luther king fought hard for racial harmony and he was killed and it make no sense in trying to say it was one person fault ...because it is not ..... It is the forefathers fault.... It is sad that the White Man has every Minority Mind warped thinking that black is bad, ugly, stupid and just pathetic....It is in front of everyone face so it can not be denied..... Asians,Latinos,Mexicans,Native Americans...etc...but not white..... They are not white ....exploited ....Raped!!! Mentally and physically ....

You would be doing yourself a great disservice. Steven Speilberg is a very gifted and talented director. If anyone can tell the story of Martin Luther King Jr., he can. I've seen every movie he's ever made with the exception of Munich and Letters from Iwo Jima, the latter because it was in subtitles.

I know you saw "The Color Purple" a movie that was nominated but received not a single award. It didn't win because Speilberg chose to remain true to the period and tell the story accurately. Sophia (played by Oprah Winfrey)was imprisoned for striking a white man. For Christmas she was allowed to spend the day with her family....can't drive stick shift...you know the rest.

My point is that Speilberg is an ideal choice and I don't believe even Spike Lee could tell the story the way it needs to be told, from both sides. Spike can tell the black side but I doubt he can expose the hatred felt by many white americans for Martin Luther King. Give him a chance, as for me I can't wait.

Fair point about The Color Purple....but your claim that "there will be intentional discrepencies" with MLK's character because Spielberg is white is quite the presumption. Did you mean UNintentional discrepencies? That would make more sense.

But I guess my basic point is that if the fact that a white guy is making this film bothers people, they should have either made the film themselves, or started a petition to get Spike Lee or some other black director to do it.

Like I said, black people have had over 40 years to do a feature film on MLK. They haven't.

Seeing as MLK is not only a towering figure in black america, he also happens to be a towering figure for all America, and the world, for that matter.

You can always boycott the film if you want.

The great irony here is that MLK's message of racial tolerance and unity is completely overlooked with every contemptuous remark about a white Jew directing the film.

There really is no sense in boycotting a movie that is being supported by phony jewish people. Hollywood was created by them and all the companies that are major are owned by them. That elite won't listen to the small(very small) group of people that doesnt' want a white person directing this movie.

To be honest nobody should make a movie about him. People should read about him. Everybody is lazy these days and would rather watch something than read something.

I know more than enough about MLK. He was a Boule and that pretty much sums it all up.

I just won't watch it. Just like I didn't watch The Color Purple, nor do I ever want to.
