'Home Alone' writer dies of heart attack

Writer-director John Hughes, Hollywood's youth impresario of the 1980s and '90s who captured and cornered the youth market with favorites such as Home Alone , The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off , died yesterday, a spokeswoman said.

I can't say that he was a favorite of mine later on in life, but being 28 and growing up in Chicago, I realized that part of my nostalgia from childhood was borrowed from the movies that he directed or screenplays he wrote.

Sad to see him pass at only 59.

The older i got whenever i watched "Home Alone" i just never could understand what i loved about it when i first saw it as a kid. I think he was a great writer. But his movies have a tranistional effect in that. I only liked them in that period. I mean only when your a kid do you dream that you'd be home alone. As you get older you realise that you'll never have a personal slave again.
