Woo hoo! Can't wait for the new 8:15 Early to open downtown on Galisteo/Alameda. I walk by that empty lot all the time and always thought it would be a great place for a restaurant. I work just a few blocks away, so I plan to eat there often! Alea and Robin, don't forget us locals.

Santa Fe is known for its food so I think the “Culinary Trails” food quest is a good and fun idea. Who would you nominate for the green chile cheeseburger? Who would you vote for?

These are the only ones listed from Santa Fe:

Bobcat Bite, Santa Fe
Burt's Burger Bowl, Santa Fe
Cow Girl, Santa Fe
El Parasol, Espanola - Santa Fe
Flying Tortilla, Santa Fe
Mine Shaft, Madrid
Railyard Restaurant & Saloon, Santa Fe

I don't think it is fair because when you go to the website to vote, naturally the ones listed in Albuquerque will get the most votes due to a bigger population.

Anywho, out of the Santa Fe ones listed, who has the best green chile cheeseburger?

I'd have to go with Berts. But you need two to make a meal. El Parisol has one of the best Carne Adobada burritos.

I used to eat at the Horseman's Haven when it was located at a gas station. My friend was the waitress there for years (Monica), so I knew the owner too. Well, everybody knew the owner. He was a Greek restauranter (hee! like George Pomonis, go figure)and he loved to go dancing at La Fonda almost every night. He was real into doing his jitterbug/swing type dancing.

I would only get breakfast there no matter what time of day. He was only open until 2 or 3 p.m. Loved-luved-lurved his hash browns smothered with red and two over easy eggs smothered in green.

I only knew it adjacent to the gas station. I too loved the breakfast in the afternoon. I think he made his own chorizo. The Huevos Rancheros with one looking at you and red chili all around (Bullseye) was the best. Did Monica sport a blond almost beehive do?

Berts, Bobcat. Wait wait, Bobcat then Berts. Nope can't decide but I will say that Berts definitely before I could drive, but Bobcat when I could drive. On the other hand Berts when I was buying, Bobcat when it was my Grandparents buying. Oh geez, guess I don't know nothing.

Yep, a sweetheart. Tall is relative -I'm 6'6" so I don't notice that as much. Always left her a nice tip 'cause my coffee cup was never less than half full... Plus as I recall, 5 years ago it was still pretty cheap like 6.50 in and out.

I liked the Whistle Stop for a gringo breakfast but then it turned into sort of an "L.A." scene so I'd do Cowgirl on Sunday Mornings on the patio instead.

Well, she was Amazon Woman to local girls. This was years ago, much more than five years. Nowadays, it's not so unusual to see women 6' and over.
