Why is it ludicrous to think belief in a creator is mindless? There is no evidence, anywhere, of the existence of a creator. Anything that can be said is evidence is anecdotal at best.

Why do you assume you know DoC and his emotions? I read what he wrote and believe he was sincere.

Everything basically boils down to survival. We just have the luxury of evolved technology so we don't have to focus on survival all the time.

I work to make money to feed, clothe, and house my family. I am lucky that I make enough to have some entertainment in there as well. These all fall within today's societal norms here in the U.S.

The same hold true for anywhere on the planet. You work to live, and goof off if there is time.

Anything after survival is a product of the society in which you live.

I too had pretty much the sam upbringing and always felt that "Church" was the biggest deception of my life. I treat others as I want to be treated. As for all the contridictions surrounding religion and others telling me I will go to hell if I do this or don't do that, I had to let it go.

I too had the biggest experience of my life when I finally let go of all the balogna and just started living instead.
