People waited outside from 8 am until 4 only to be told she was leaving at 3:30. And that include an hour break. Steamtowm mall was a mess, no organization, no good security to watch the lines for cutters. IT was a total waste of time. STEAMTOWN MALL and EMILY'S Agents need to devise a system and have extra people there to watch the bad people who don't care. Alot of little girls had there dreams stepped on by bad people. STEAMTOWN MALL AND EMILY OWES ALL OF US AN APOLOGIES. YOU HAVE SOME NERVE to turn away the people who made you. She should have stayed to see everyone and not cut out early.

I woke up at 6:55 am. got there a little before 8 am. I waited and waited. It was so unorganized. The line went out of wack when i reached the ropes, because people were cutting saying they were there since 8 am and all.Me and my family got so close but I got sick and it was too crowded. They should of had more security and Emily should have had a 10-20 minute break. I got an autograph but it was only because I went around back it was only when i left the line.

My sister and I waited for 7 hours in line to get a picture with Emily Osment. People kept on cutting in the line. My family and some others that did the right thing and got up early tried to keep people from cutting but when trashy people knocked down the ropes there was no way to keep control. We had to give up because there was no security and little girls were getting sick and getting hurt. Many girls left crying. A lot of girls like me didn't get to have their picture taken with her. People that were hurt should sue Steamtown and Disney.

I am Emily's #1 biggest fan and i know it's not her fault. It is the security's fault. But people did not get to meet her even someone who got there at 6 a.m.!I got her autograph behind stage under the steps because she was there and I had a picture of her with me. I got there at 8a.m. and did not get a picture with her.Me and my family were one of the first people there.People got physically hurt there. There were even little kids getting hurt by adults also. People were hyperventilating. I am not being a baby. I waited for three months.GO EMILY!!

It is not fair! You people that say that you're happy and all, well get a life. Like I said before I got sick cuz people coudn't just wait their turn. One person was trying to make my family feel guilty cuz her daughter had a broken arm, well too bad that she had a broken arm she wasn't waiting for 7 or 8 hours straight, not going to the bathroom or getting a real meal, i had cereal in the morning and a pretzel that's it! Cuz I din't want to lose my place in line and people still kept cutting. Early on people knocked down the ropes to just get in line. Kids were getting hurt, sick, and lost! So there Sam and Emily is Amazing peoples. I went there. I agree with sad and mad, Ashli, and What a Disaster! Not you Sam and Emily is Amazing. Get a life!

Sam I'm sorry but you are wrong!I waited in line since 8:00 in the morning and did NOT get to meet her!Yeah I got her autograph but it's not the same being in a picture with her. All I had to eat was a pretzel and cereal. I am like Emily's biggest fan so I know about her, would not do that. The security was a big problem there. Some lied saying they were there since 8:00 but I would have seen them.I was so exited to meet her but did not because it was so out control! So Sam and Emily is amazing, you don't know the difference between right and wrong! Cuz you are wrong!

I traveled over an hour on August 4 to bring my daughter and my niece down to the mall to see Emily Osment. We arrived at 9 a.m. and were pleased to see that we were in the mall and in line, unlike many others who were in line outside the mall. We waited for seven hours and believed that we would eventually make our way to the stage to get an autographed picture. Once we made our way through the line, we realized why the line was moving so slowly, there was absolutely no organization in front of the stage!! Just a mob of people who may not have waited in the line—there was absolutely no control of the people!

I was very disappointed in the way this event had been organized. There were not many staff members, security officers, and there was definitely no organization. There were people blocking the stairways around the stage; do you realize how dangerous that could have been? I did not expect everyone to get to meet her. There were just too many people, but, many young children were upset at the fact that after their long wait, there was no hope that they would get their autographed picture. I have not yet decided if I will continue to shop at Steamtown, but, this mall should reconsider doing another event if the staff, security, and organization is not available!!!

EMILY OSMENT APPEARANCE AT THE MALL AT STEAMTOWN
IN SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA:
A PHENOMENAL SUCCESS BY ANY MEASURE

On Saturday, August 4, 2007, Emily Jordan Osment, who portrays Lilly Truscott on The Disney Channel’s mega-hit cable television series HANNAH MONTANA, flew into Scranton to make a personal appearance at The Mall at Steamtown from Noon until 4pm. The sheer number of people in attendance dwarfed all previous turnouts for celebrity appearances hosted in this venue.

After graciously attending a Celebrity Breakfast held that morning at Scranton’s Historic Radisson Hotel, hosted by The Mall at Steamtown and 97 BHT, Emily took the stage in the Mall’s Center Court amidst the applause and cheers of thousands of excited fans. To her credit, the young star signed in excess of 1,500 autographs with unwavering courtesy and kindness. Both Emily and her father, Eugene Osment, expressed her wish to meet and greet every single visitor on Saturday. Unfortunately, due to the size of the crowd, it was physically impossible. Emily’s limousine left the Radisson in plenty of time to deliver her to the stage by Noon, however unexpected throngs of people lining Lackawanna Avenue brought traffic to a near stand-still, making it challenging to bring the car into the Mall and resulting in her arriving 15 minutes late.

The Mall at Steamtown’s continuing series of celebrity appearances provide us with a forum in which we can give back to our community while providing a memorable, value-added shopping experience for our customers, allowing as many of our guests to meet their Hollywood heroes as possible.

Over the last two years, The Mall at Steamtown has brought a number of celebrities to the City of Scranton. We continue to do so because, overwhelmingly, public response has been very positive. These community events are orchestrated over many months and involve the synergies of multiple disciplines including media partners, marketing firms, transportation companies, corporate sponsors, local and county law enforcement, fire officials, emergency personnel and the District Attorney’s office, as well as numerous other resources and support systems. Security measures taken for this event far exceeded the level required for the appearance of THE OFFICE’s Rainn Wilson back in December, 2006. Mall security, plainclothes detectives and Scranton Police worked diligently to ensure the safety of all. A Fire Marshall patrolled the stage area for the duration of the event. Every possible precaution was taken to protect the public, with Mall Public Safety Officers even going outside to distribute bottled water to families standing in the heat and sun.

Continuation of letter above.

A number of Saturday’s attendees were upset because their children did not meet Emily and a few people felt personally slighted. Although it was our intention for every individual to meet Emily personally and to create wonderful, lasting memories for all the children in attendance, the size of the crowd was an unforeseen obstacle that simply could not be overcome despite the best efforts of all involved. We recognize that there is certainly no greater source of disappointment and frustration than to have let down a small child. Emily’s time with us was limited due to her busy schedule, and she went above and beyond at every turn, even using a portion of her lunch break to call a 9-year-old leukemia patient at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville. She also signed numerous items that will be auctioned off for charity during future Mall events.

In an effort to accommodate more fans at future events during which a larger than normal attendance might be expected, The Mall at Steamtown, Longbotham Strategic Marketing and our media partners will work to extend celebrity appearances, possibly over a period of several days, during which a number of various meet and greet opportunities will be scheduled. Additionally, the possibility of erecting large video screens throughout the Mall and along the street may provide a means by which fans can watch and feel more connected to the proceedings. We are certainly open and willing to explore various solutions to enhance the success of our events and will continue to make every effort to ensure the safety and happiness of our neighbors and friends at all times.

Public comments, feedback and constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated. The Mall at Steamtown is currently planning the 2007 Holiday shopping season and would appreciate community input. To nominate your favorite celebrity to be considered for an appearance at The Mall at Steamtown, email your nomination to themallatsteamtown@hotmail.com .

Thank you for your support, attendance and continued commitment to the vitality and prosperity of Downtown Scranton. The Mall at Steamtown is your ultimate shopping destination downtown. www.themallatsteamtown.com
