I asked myself today, for some odd reason, while stuck in traffic and time to ponder "if someone was to ask who my favorite comedian of all time was" who would I say. I immediately thought of Penny Marshall. Strange cause I had not known that yet. I grew up looking forward to Tuesday nights just to watch Lavern and Shirley. Boy what comedy. I thought of Bob Hope also but then I felt really old and definitely chose Marshall.
Ironically I turned on the t.v. and there was Penny talking with the comedian from curve your enthusiasm. Coincidence or intuition. I do not know when this was taped but it stirred some feelings and I thought I'd google to see what she was working on, only to find out that she had been ill recently.
This has touched me deeply but I know she will be fine cause every time this sort of stuff happens to me it always has a positive outcome. I am looking forward to reading her book and to see her perform real soon. This generation needs her to show them what "funny" is. I hope somehow she reads this.
