I grew up in Atlanta, GA. Wren's Nest, the home of Joel Chandler Harris, the author of the stories in "Song of the South", was not far from where I lived. The stories in this movie are wonderful. And their lessons still apply today. I do not see the harm in re-releasing this movie. The people who object should read the stories. They need to find their "Laughing Place!"

Song of the South is no more racist today than some of the current Hollywood movies that have been put out in recent years. Think about it.

WHY NOT ? Its a good movie and is not a racist movie by no Means. Slavery happen, and that was the times. My Ancestors slaves went back home to the Plantation after the Civil War freed them an they were happy to do so. It was HOME to them. Where else could they go?

All I can say is "it's about time"! Only a moron would say "Song of the South" is "racist". It's time to tell the NAACP to go jump in the lake. Their membership is not even one third of African-Americans. In fact they were founded by white communists! They are only trouble makers who want their names in the news!

Very cool. It is about time. It's no more racist than Huck Finn, or Gone with the Wind. It's a fictionalized account of a historical time period. A fun story, and that's all.

If a plantation worker couldn't be a
happy storyteller then no one could
be a happy storyteller. And just what is wrong with a movie that
makes people talk the way they
actually talked in the period
the movie was portraying. Political
correctness has gone past being
ridiculous to being downright stupid.
