Brad Pitt is the leader of the Basterds, who, amazingly, are the least interesting thing about "Basterds." And he's not very sharp, either.

Chris Hewitt should have mentioned that this is a sort of remake of the Italian '70s B-movie "The Inglorious Bastards" which starred Americans. Tarantino's movie is a good movie too and a good war movie. I am sure the French will like it! The movie has multiple levels and I am sure the French will recognize the obvious references that Chris Hewitt seems to have missed (but I did not).

it's illegal in france to make a movie that tells the truth about occupied france...that the french loved the nazis and that there were almost nobody in the french resisitance (kubrick's 1950s paths of glory was banned in france till about 1980!).

check out the leni refinsthal documentary on youtube...the french back in 1930s gave her an award, and a little girl gave her a bouquet of flowers when she came to france re her doc. TRIUMPH OF THE WILL.

and, tarintino is a bum, with this just another nazi movie, and another action movie aimed at 14 year old boys---which many articles state is the target audience producers go for.

Christopher Waltz as the SS Colonel steals the show from Brad Pitt and easily equals Ralph Fiennes Amon Goeth in Schindler's List, perhaps even surpassing him. He should be nominated for an Acadamy Award.

This is not a great movie, just an action movie with a big budget. Some of Taratino's touches get annoying after awhile. You have to hold half of France in contempt as they gave away have the country to "Vichy" France. Makes you wonder why we backed the French up in Vietnam!

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Taurus

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
