If I recall correctly, Walliach's Music City was on the southeast corner of Artesia & Hawthorne Boulevards. Just across the street from what was then the South Bay Shopping Center. My own memory of Wallach's is listening to Bill Cosby w/a HS friend in one of the listening booths. All the while trying to make eye contact w/2 young girls in the next booth w/tears streaming out of our eyes from laughing so hard at "Cosby Is a Very Funny Fellow Right".

You are right Wallacks was at southeast corner of Hawthorne an Artisia. Nearly lived there at one time played many instruments and they were a good source for that. Didn't care for the Beatles at first couldn't get our girl friends to stop drooling over them so annoying they were. Later became a big fan of theirs.
At that time loved the Beach Boys as I was an aspiring Surfer they were my group and they were local so identified with them more.
Met them the Beach Boys at Wallacks Music City shortly after the release of Little Duce Coup and they had the Duce Coup there spoke with Mike Love and babbled something totally incoherent but it's a memory I will always have.

The Beatles were much more than a soundtrack. They were and are a direction.

Great snippet of your memories, Jay. I'm proud to have been in Liverpool with you and Irene, traveling in memory of the boys. Also, proud to be an owner of one of the photos you took of them at the Hollywood Bowl.

When I was a little kid, my Dad took me to the grand opening of the Hawthorne & Artesia Wallach's store in Torrance. There was a flat bed truck trailer which was used as a stage by the featured band - The Beach Boys! Their set list included "Surfin Safari", "Surfer Girl" and "Long Tall Texan". Each Fender amp had one guitar and one mic plugged in - no PA yet - so Brian Wilson was singing through a Bassman! I was amazed by the quality of their harmonies!
