Queer Kids Say: Resist the Gay Marriage Agenda!

Full story: dc.indymedia.org

It’s hard for us to believe what we’re hearing these days. Thousands are losing their homes, and gays want a day named after Harvey Milk. The U.S. military is continuing its path of destruction, and gays want to be allowed to fight. Cops are still killing unarmed black men and bashing queers, and gays want more policing. More and more Americans are suffering and dying because they can’t get decent health care, and gays want weddings. What happened to us? Where have our communities gone? Did gays really sell out that easily?

From the article, "Having grown up in queer families and communities we strongly believe that queers are not like everyone else."

What many of us having been saying all along.

Sorry, it's just been really hard to hear anything you're saying since you have your closet door shut so tightly.

This article was obviously written by someone with their OWN agenda and they make a lot of clueless and useless points.

Not worth wasting time to read.

What an idiotic comment...live in a country that legally kills you or sentences you to life imprisonment for being queer or get legally shut out of the hospital room your soldier spouse is dying in because you are queer...you are the spoiled little sell out here. Grow up.

Since when are causes an either or proposition?
We can have mortgage bailouts AND a Harvey Milk day.
We can have health care reform AND the equal right of marriage.
etc. etc.

Much like the people who oppose us and would oppress us, we gays also have our own fixations.

This article is an embarrassment and the author must secretly be on the reich-wing payroll to come up with some of those blatantly exaggerated admonitions. Total sh*t.

This unsupportable rant seems a rather bizzare example of contemplating one's own navel, and I can't help but consider that the author's espoused beliefs stem from a motivation which is not stated in the text... probably an anarchist contempt for social structures and authority figures; more typical of teenange angst and cultural rebellion than social consciousness.

It reminds me of a friend in Memphis, half of whose LGBT friends, having been raised in Baptist households, and who remain mostly closeted despite their profound effeminacy, believe that LGBT people should not be allowed to marry. They're brainwashed by the binary heteronormative society, and consider themselves freakish outsiders... apparently deserving of social (and civil) exile.

It doesn't surprise me when people refuse to stand up for themselves, but it makes me pretty angry when they try to stand in the way of others who do.

I think this article and the reactions to it are yet another reason why homosexuals shouldn't be raising children. Homosexuals apparently can't handle it when the kids have different ideas from their own.

I guess you haven't noticed but it's the younger generation which has profoundly different ideas on LGBT equality than what their parents have. The future lays in the hands of our children and fortunately for the LGBT community they are rejecting the bigotry of the older generation.

It's unreal, though, that a closet case, such as yourself, is a prime example of what segment of society is the most vocal homophobic. If you're going to take your cues from the Larry Craigs and Ted Haggards of this world then the only place you'll ever really get to feel like a real man is when you're peering through your closed closet doors.

btw, where are you getting kids being anti-gay from this article? This article is a rant-and-rave from some loonie and I can assure you it's complete false advertising because, to me, this sounds more like a right-winger on a mission than a gay teen.

That's idiotic, of course. Gays are no different from anyone else when it comes to raising children, some can handle kids with different ideas, some cannot and sexual orientation has nothing whatsoever to do with it at all.

If we pass laws saying you bigot, "religious" homophobes can't marry members of the opposite sex, adopt, serve openly in the armed forces or be protected from arbitrary firing, when you complain we can just point out how childlike you are just because you can't "tolerate" ideas which are different from your own sick, faith biased ones.

You're sexually disordered. Stop embarrassing yourself by speaking publicly until you get help, Diane G.

It was an example of one friend of his. I agree with his reply. The article was a rant of someone who hasn't identity their own self. it is great to rant against something that you think is useless to later find out how important it really is. The 100's of rights guaranteed by law that come with marriage you don't think about until you need them. The ignorance of the article is shocking. But hey, so often we are to repeat others mistakes because we learn not from history and want to force a "new" way based on absence of knowledge. That gets you nowhere.
