Mega Movies + New Directors = Big Drama

Jan 20, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Hollywood Reporter

In these tough times, it's understandable why first-time directors appeal to Hollywood studios: They can bring fresh ideas, work more cheaply than veterans and presumably are more open to "guidance" from the suits.

It really is so nice to hear Keanu's name mentioned in relation to a film. I was beginning to think that would never happen again.

It doesn't matter if it's good or bad, it just matters that Keanu is mentioned with a big budget film.

his "Side by Side" begins to roll out. It's certainly not big studio project, but it takes attention to KR his name. First opinions, I've read, were quite positive.I hope, the next, after relies, will be even beter.

I think its great he is living out another dream & making it come tru! So many just stop but I believe that he has what it takes to become a great director & most likely he will win an award for it because I've seen his work & it seems like he puts his heart & soul in it & that goes along w everything in life that's what makes it become a great success , I wish him only the best! I would like to see him win an award but I won't hold my breath. When it comes to documentaries...don't they usually like something that is more about social justice or the human experience?

Yup. No doubt Angelina Jolie will get something for hers. i.e., recognition/award. She's a game player and it pays dividends every time.
