Walmart Expansion Opposition, WHAT A JOKE!
Quote:
"The couple, granted party status by the District 8 Act 250 Commission as abutting property owners, are opposing the project’s stormwater discharge system and are also concerned with noise.
David Grayck, a partner with the Montpelier law firm"
God forbid we upset a few golfers w/potential noise as for stormwater floodway issues, ACT OF GOD? Are there anymore bullcrap issues? Wasn't there a vote taken, citizens of Bennington wanting the Walmart expansion? The majority won! However, a select few in power have done eveything in their power to halt the expansion... Enoughs, Enoughs let's get on w/the expansion. Keeping potential Walmart customers from going to Brunswick or Pittsfield! Just One Man's Humble Opinon...

Heaven forbid the town lets him expand the WalMart and we can take in more COMMERCIAL tax revenue and be able to then lower residential property taxes?!

To JW - sorry to upset you, but tourists are a lifeblood issue in this state. Yes, they are a pain, but they sleep in motels, shop in stores and eat in restaurants - and yes, they also golf. So, if you don't want them here, I am sure the State of VT can arrange that for you. So when tax revenue goes down and people lose there jobs, where will we be?

I am originally from the east end of LI; the tourists were the scourge of the earth, but the influx of $$ raised the locals' standard of living considerably. Suck it up, Buttercup.

They have secured all permits from the town, they are waiting on the state for a traffic plan and a construction general permit.

For the people who own the golf course: Bank street goes right by one of the tees.(5th) What more noise could you have than that? How do you sleep at night in your house with all the traffic on the new highway and the trucks shifting down. What about the McDonald speaker? Welcome to McDonalds. How may I help You. This is all night long. Down by the thirrd hole and the forth tee off it did flood away once in high water. This is what you have to expect in high water.WalMart will not make any more noise when it is larger than it does now. Let them expand and more people will have jobs.

Wooded, fields or both? From what I've seen in the area when I bought, the cost should be around $750, 0000 depending on access roads and if it is commercially zoned property. Building a golf course for yourself Big Guy? I'll keep my ears open for a good deal.

Golf course, Nahhhh, we've got enough of those...
John has gathered a group of investor's who are looking into
this...

I think a more realistic figure would be 350 acres because they want to offer snowmobiling in the winter or possibly a snowmobile race track with man made snow capabilities if needed....
These indoor parks are not cheap but are showing increased attendance and revenue even with the down economy, YEAR ROUND......

I'm still a bit skeptical because of the demographics but on something this big you have to go with a 100 mile radius...
There is also a letter of intent for the construction of one in the Pittsburgh area....

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Libra

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
