I have to say, this whole series seems to be little more than a MASSIVELY EXPENSIVE exercise in early Renaissance porn! My one WEE problem is how on earth do you pull off playing such a MASSIVE ego as Henry VIII whom was in his 40's by the times he was accidentally 'reforming' the corrupt Papists with an early 30s actor that is still WELL FIT (apart from the bung leg of course!) to his demise?
Say the name 'Henry VIII' and instantly the Holbein portrait comes to mind, read MASSIVELY OBESE EGOMANIAC! The very epitome of absolute power corrupting absolutely.
Massive artistic license has been taken with the ACTUAL histories and it's a great disappointment given the high calibre of actors (Peter O'Toole, Max Von Sydow, Sam Neil et al) and the dialogue is ridiculously modern. I don't know that "I'm gonna cum!" was standard patter in pre Shakespearean England. It's like Aaron Spelling has been let loose on William Shakespeare, tho keep in mind he was the Aaron Spelling of his day! LOL! Bardwatch instead of Baywatch! Watch it as 'Reformation for dummies!'
