Conradulations to The Ledger family and Friends The mans goota be a shoe in now for the Oscar !!!
It will be oly the 2nd time in Movie history that someone who has already passed wins an oscar for current work.
The late Peter Finch won for NETWORK way back !
Noone desrves as much attention as does Ledger and his family at this years Oscar ceremony
To not honor them and him, would be doing a diss-service to the entire Film industry.
Dead or Alive
That performance was perhaps the BEST EVER turned in by a supporting actor in History !!!

The Dark Knight was a great film, and Ledgers performance as the Joker was spectacular.
Jack Nicholson is immensely talented, but his Joker performance and Ledgers are not even comparable.
Ledger should win an Oscar for The Dark Knight.

I just hope there is a Trilogy... I mean they almost are obligated... it only makes sense ... they are garenteed a certain amount ...
I bet it will have actors no one would have guessed or heard of.. I mean did anyone expect Heath as the Joker?.. i didn't and when i heard it i thought he would do poorly ... boy was i wrong... I hope to see a new Mansion and Bat cave.. probably Cat woman ... because they need a leading Female role.... and I bet alfred's life will be threatened... Oh and lets not forget a New BATMOBILE!!!!!!

"The emporer's new clothes" great lesson there... and it applies to Ledger in this film. He was being praised prior to the film ever being released. Everyone jumped on, not wanting to be different. I watched this film just a month ago... He's good.. very good, but seriously... he's hardly oscar worthy... he barely does anything... 80% of the movie.. he's not even in... I guess I'm the little boy who's willing to shout out.. "the emporer is not wearing any clothes"

-I heard Ledger died from an overdose because he was a junkie...that's not worthy of any type of honor.

"the emporer is not wearing any clothes" People were fawning over him after his death, that is true. Your point that he's not in the movie enough...he's not the main character, being that he would win an Oscar for best supporting actor, not the leading role. If you don't find Ledger's Joker a complex and sinister character, a very impressive performance....who would you suggest instead? Or do you just like to rain on peoples' parade?

They might have hit the top with "The Dark Knight" Another follow up movie would be difficult to pull off, a different actor playing the Joker will not be the same, and it could go the way of the George Clooney and Val Kilmer Batman flicks....which were all terrible. ...oh and the movie Catwoman, with Halle Berry, has been mentioned among the worst movies of all time. Might want to stay away from that character. Of course Hollywood won't be able to stay away, they will have to cash in on the series name until it is completely tapped of all profitability. Ex. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Dull, Rambo featuring Stalone at age 92, Rocky Balboa also featuring a 92 year old Stalone, Live Free of Die Hard...84 year old Bruce Willis. Lets not forget what they did to the original Star Wars Trilogy....shudder, remastered them and put in a bunch of stupid aliens and crappy special effects. Then came out with three whole movies full of the same crappy special effects and weird alien creatures.

I may have suffered a bit from taking too long to see the film. I heard a years worth of hype about how good Ledger was. It just never happened when I was watching the show. As I said, he was very good. But actually a lot of the "character" had very little to do with his on screen time/acting.. etc... for example, the final conflict involving the two boats. I think it was a tremendous idea, showed the sinister nature of the character.. the twisted mind, but Ledger had so little to do with any of that scene. He doesn't develop it, describe it, he only watches and laughs about it. I think the writers/director are the ones who deserve the recognition for the Joker character. Most of Ledger's on screen time was spent in action scenes. No great speeches (like Nicholson in the first movie). I think the only time he really impressed me with his dialogue was while he was in the police interview room. Just my opinion... I know Hollywood loves to flaunt over themselves, and they always tend to praise those who've recently passed. I think the timing of his death had more to do with Hollywood's reaction than any on screen performance. I don't think he'de have gotten the same praise had he lived.

I was with you the whole way til you brought up Star Wars... like the movie or not... that's an entirely different situation. Those stories were penned long before the first movie came out. And I'de love to see the final three, but Lucas said he'de never do it.

I know, the story line is great...but they overpower the story line with special effects. Special effects are no longer special when guys are riding around on giant lizards in EVERY scene.

Heath Ledger is dead and all so I know I'll be the bad guy here. I thought Dark Knight sucked. Really and truly sucked. If Heath wouldn't have croaked, no way this film would have received so much attention.

"the emporer is not wearing any clothes" I KNOW IN MY HEART AND TROUGH 46 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE THAT IN ORDER TO MAKE THAT STATEMENT ABOVE YOU HAVE TO BE 100% OR MORE CLUED OUT TO THE CRAFT OF ACTING. YOU HAVE TO KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT FILM TO SAY THAT LEDGERS PERFORMANCE WASN;T OSCAR WORTHY AND I WOULD GO EVEN FURTHER AND SAY YOU HAVE NO BUISNESS DISCUSSING THAST MOVIE WITH ANYONE UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT IN YOUR HEAD. THIS MAN, DIED BECOMING THAT CHARACTER PERIOD!!! HE WAS THE JOKER PERSONIFIED AND IN OVER 100 YEARS OF FILMMAKING NOT ONE, NOT EVEN ONE OTHER HUMAN BEING HAS EVER NAILED A CHARACTER TO THE WALL AS PERFECTLY AND AS IN DEPTH AS DID LEDGER!!! IT SHOULD HELP UP HIGH AS A BIBLE FOR ACTING IN A SUPPORTING ROLE!!! THE MANNERISMS AND TECHNIQUE HE USED WAS A THING OF BEUTHY AND SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN FILM SCHOOLS ALL OVER THE WORLD IN ORDER TO SEE THAT PERFORMANCE AND KNOCK IT YOU HAVE TO BE REALY DUMB, REALY FUCKED UP IN THE BRAIN, OR NOT KNOW A THING AT ALL ABOUT WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE A FILM OR TURN IN A PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT!!!

Ok.. you're just psycho!! not to mention a SNOB. Acting is ART, ART is subjective.. don't be giving any lectures about "you just don't get it". What an arrogant and obnoxious comment. My judgement was a good one, and deserves as much respect as anyone elses. Respond to me, don't respond, I don't care.. you're worthless and not worth any more of my time.
