Not true. Other than providing fields, etc. which they partnered with Standard Oil company to build homes and fix up Berhinger Park fields, the youth sport programs are self sufficient. They are not now or ever been subsidized by the city. You are just a plant for the theater. Fine by me if everyone wants to watch Cathy Rigby in every production for the last 20+ years and until forever, that doesn't mean the city should pay for it. Your press release is about 15 years too late in my opinion. And the state took back redevelopment funds that LM sat on, because they're tight wads and thought they could live on it forever instead of using it for what it was for...REDEVELOPMENT instead of SPLASH and the white elephant theater! They should have used the money for fixing up all the aging strip malls throughout the city. LM still has plenty of money. They just don't want to spend it. They are all Scrooge McDucks and have always been that way forever. As far as taxes, the dumb butt city council can't seem to understand that we can shop at Lowes in LH or Home Depot on LH and Staters in unincorporated Whittier. Albertsons is already dying. Stupid for them to consider an increase in sales tax when there is hardly anything here in LM worthy of shopping at anyway. Next they'll drive out SteinMart and Marshalls, like everything else, because they're so stupid.
