Keillor needs to try something new. He's ridden this horse into the ground and it has become stale and boring. Thirty five years is long enough to do anything - hang it up and take your crap show with you.

Keillor sucks! His show is lame, long and boring! He's lucky MPR is funded by the gov or he would have been gone many years ago.

I do not read his column, listen to any of his shows or buy any of his tapes since he became a political genius. I used to enjoy him when he was an entertainer.

How do you figure? Keillor was, until a few years ago, employed by MPR. The 10% of MPR's budget that comes from public money is used for new transmitter equipment for weak signal areas of the state. Keillor's production company Prairie Home Productions is not funded by tax money. So I'm not sure where he would get tax money.

I love the above comments. Gov. Ventura summed it up correctly when he was asked about PHC he said he tried to listen to it once and fell asleep. I listened to it once a few years back and lost my memory for three days. It is painfully boring, he is painfully boring and it is a outrage that tax dollars support this garbage. It would never survive the free market.

Lake Wobegon maybe a mythical MN place, and Keillor's lyrical style maybe outdated but if you listen to the PHC dialogue you will find Garrison talking about us and the MN human condition. After all, Keillor is a 'satirist' in the traditional sense.

I may not always like the dialogue of the show but one has to admit between the lines there is a message to be heard. Where would we, as an educated society, be without some mind bending, thought provoking, and even dull dialogue that elicits a plethora of unique responses?

The verbiage of the postings here on this thread only prove the point of Keillor's 35 years on Prairie Home Companion.

The show is a way that city-bound liberals can fantasize on what rural life is like. I was cute, if bloated and trite, back in the day. I learned about it when I visited the east coast where I found said city dwellers who think its really how life is in minnesota.

Yeah, its got a 'thought provoking' message alright--the same message as 95% of media today--socialism smothered with sugar and whipped cream.

This bug-eyed dude's a bitter vindictive little twerp like our other homegrown 'funnyman' angry al--and appeals to the same crowd: people who find leftist political polemic to be the height of wit.

MPR is funded primarily by member donations. That's what keeps the station operations running. Keilor's show is run the good ol' fashioned way, off of corporate underwriting (advertising) and money he makes off of licensing.

Nice try though.

This batrachian, arrogant, condescending lout has never recovered from when he got his butt kicked 6 out of 5 days a week at school. Now he's a mean-spirited bully and a political "genius."

I'm a realtor in need of a listing, Garrison, I've got a long list of buyers if you're interested in moving out of Lake Wobegone.

Unless you're gone, they're not interested.

What page of the APM annual report shows any of Garrison Keillor's programs are funded by the NEA? I'm looking at it and I just don't see this? Are you making up numbers?

Years ago I really enjoyed the show. Haven't listened to it for a few years, though. His arrogance and bitterness really ruined it. The awful picture on the home page is pretty accurate. If you run into him around town as I have, he's mean and arrogant. No, not shy. Arrogant.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Cancer

With Mars and Saturn working in harmony, you'll find the support you need through friends or associates. Someone pitches in to help which will let you take a concrete step towards achieving your goals. There could however be a cost in terms of your emotional and domestic life because of what you're doing. Has responsibility taken you away from those you're close to? Try to make things up in another way.
