Summit has releases a new poster for The Three Musketeers, in which Sam Morgan, a blogger from Hollywood.com comments "...the poster goes old school with the basic layout of classic Star Wars and Indiana Jones posters. Okay, Three Musketeers. You might just get me to pay to see you after all".
The Three Musketeers in 3D, starring Matthew Macfadyen, debuts October 14, 2011 worldwide.Comments

So I notice the 3D isn't prominent. Old school poster plus 3D omission???

Do you mean that they don't mention that it's a 3D movie?

They do on the bottom of course (see the link) but it's not in the title like it was before and the style of the poster beckons back to the older style.

makes you wonder what else they've changed. down at the very bottom of the poster in little tiny letters it says: coming soon in real 3D and 2D theatres. and it does look VERY old school. hmm. |

The poster is disappointing in many respects. Not a fan of the "old School" look. And, attempting to make it appear that Orlando is the feature artist is a bit cheap. It is clear from all of his interviews that he isn't the main character in this film. The official trailer makes that point definitively. And, whose voice and personage is featured most prominently in the
trailer...Matthew's. I think Logan, Matthew and the other Musketeers and Milla should have been featured, in that order. But, alas, they didn't ask me. LOL! I know they are banking on Orlando's and Logan's name to be the big draw. And, why they didn't promote the REAL 3-D, I definitely do not understand. I mean...Matthew in REAL 3-D....enough said!!:) |

I never heard of this Logan before this movie and the emphasis on him and Orlando makes me think this is being pitched to the kiddies (anyone under 25). But with that logic they would have thrown the 3D all over the place. Maybe the 3D effects didn't turn out too good

you may be right about pitching this to a younger audience, Lerman was in a movie last summer, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, that doe pretty well with the younger set, and he is currently filming Perks of Being a Wallflower, a book that is HUGE with teens, and co-starring Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame. most of the teens i know are chomping at the bit for that movie to come out. i just think the whole poster is cheesy and not the quality of the trailer, the first poster or anything else we've seen involving this film. i'm wondering what they were thinking! |

I think I know exactly why they chose this style. First of all it's a classic story and tale so old school seems logical. Also when I was at Wondercon, all the comic books and comic geekness of those things appeal to those attendees on a massive scale. 3M will be at ComicCon in San Diego in July most likely so this is a good course they are taking, IMO. I can't find the original posters from Star Wars and such from the 80's but if you do a regular search you will see that this is the style they are in and therefore to appeal to this massive fan set (the Comic Con geeks who will talk it up) My guess anyway! ;-) |

I rather like Matthew's image on this poster! I am not amused that Orlando Bloom is taking centre stage! LOL!

Hi May! Yes, why Orlando and not Matthew? well, Orlando sells tickets of course and so does that little actor, what's his name?(ha!)
On another note, Mega producer Scott Rudin was suppose to be connected to this film but isn't anymore. Just an observation... |

Commence forth, smart ad campaign!!!
"Summit Entertainment has released via Yahoo! Movie the film's poster and it is refreshingly old-school, giving us more hope that Anderson will do justice to the swashbuckling action." From Moviefone. Also Cinemablend has the best HD view of it where you can see the credits more readily: http://www.cinemablend.com/gallery/previews/T... |

And MTV movies, lest we forget (important for the movie going public set that will probably populate the majority that are going to see this!)
Of course Logan Lerman is their hero... http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/06/10/loga... So all the major movie sites have posted it. Not bad for a day's work! ;-) |

I don't like particularly this new poster because of the proportions between the bad guys and the good guys...apart from LL that is central character, why OB has to be so incumbent from above ?
I prefer much more the trailer and its "voice"... |

I guess it's a marketing thing because they make the most "bankable" of the bunch bigger, LOL! When you look at it that way, it makes sense. Otherwise, Waltz would be the one larger than life. |
