I am in search of a local scooter repairman in Denver Metro. I have an issue with the battery losing the charge everyday.

Thank you.

If the battery will not hold a charge, a repairman can't help you. Get a new battery.
If there is something draining the battery, or the scooter is not charging the battery, that is a different senario. Try the yellow pages.

Yeerr right! The supplied batteries with the machines are usually marginal if you simply fill them and then run the machine.
What I have learned to do: As you unpack the crate go the find the battery asap and fill it and then place it on a trickle charger. Then assemble the machine, which takes a few hours to check out everything, and then put the battery in service and crank it up. I find that the battery will then work longer and give better crip starts.

Yes, the alarm system and remote are hot all the time and do pose a drain on the electrical system even when the machine is parked. Over a few days sitting the battery will begin to go flat.

I am not the brightest bulb in the box, but I do have seven new machines in the shop for resale and all are in top notch running condition. Also I have solved all the initial problems without having to buy any parts.

For the average guy I suggest that you go to Auto-Zone (or another parts place) and buy a battery that is appropriate for the size and rating you need for your scooter, however spend the extra bucks and buy one that is for use in a jet ski. Much better battery. Install the battery and then take the machine to Auto-Zone and have them run a test on the charging system if you do not own any stuff to check the system with. However, do not let AZ put a load test on the battery! NO NO!

Elementary self-test: Start the bike and let it idle.. after a few seconds of running.. blip the throttle and watch the headlights.. if they get brighter with rpm then it is charging and should be ok. Remember that these machines are not auto's and they do not provide 60-100 amps of recovery charge. They recharge slowly. If you start the bike and then only let it idle for a few minutes at a time the new battery will begin to degenerate and then it too will fail. My guess is that after a cold start, it takes about 15 mins of idle to recharge.. a little shorter time if you actually ride it down the road. Riding the bake at higher rpm's then idle will help it recover quicker. Thats my 2 cents for today! Big Don

Even trickle charging while putting the thing together didnt do much! The batteries are just crap!! I called my dist in cal & asked him if there was anything he could do. He said batteries come from from another co & its thetre gig, & thAt they (most) are junk. As good as these people have been to me- he sent me another crap one 3-4 mo later & said "I did what I could" & its better than nothing. He didnt have to do that!
A good online dist makes all thre difference in the world as to how your exp w/ your scoot turns out! Too many scammers give the good ones a bad name. I would buy from them again hands down if I ever have to!

The battery in my Yammy has held up real well. We have some very cold winters here and the battery has been stored for two winters now in the scooter with a Battery Tender Jr hooked to it. I went out a week or so ago when it was warm and it started right up.

wasnt the issue this person asked about was the fact that:
HE CANT GET HIS SCOOTERS TO IDLE???
HAVING THE CARB ADJUSTED, OR MAYBE EVEN REJETTED COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
I DONT GET WHY EVERY ONE THINKS THAT A PROBLEM WITH A SCOOTERS "IDLE" AUTOMATICALLY MEANS ITS THE BATTERY.
hIGHER ALTITUDES LIKE HERE IN COLORADO WILL AFFECT THE IDLE, SPEED AND PERFORMANCE, WHY? MOST SCOOTERS ARE BUILT AT LOW ALTITUDES, LIKE "SEA LEVEL" HAVE SOMEONE ADJUST YOUR CARB OR RE-JETT THE CARB AND I'D BET UR IDLE PROBLEMS WILL CEASE

#1 - You need to reread the thread. Karim started this thread (post #1) regarding batteries. Not about idling anything.
#2 - No one with any scooter brains has ever stated that the battery affects the idle. All the battery does is start the scooter. After that you can ride a scooter without a battery if you prefer.
#3 - You need to pay attention to details. Before engaging mouth errr keyboard.

I was wondering if you could put a larger watt head light bulb in your head light. I'm sorry but the 35 watt, 12 volt does not cover it when your driving at night.

What is max watt rating for the headlight bulb? Higher wattage bulbs produce more heat. More heat melts things.

The book lists 35 watt 12 volt but does not say anything about what max wattage you can use as far as the headlight. It came with a 12 volt 35 watt bulb and I tried driving with that at night and you need something brighter. I wonder if it would hurt the plastic any if i put something in there a little brighter? I'm not sure if they even make one brighter that you can put in that?

About all you could do is take the bulb to a Auto Store or a Motorcycle shop and see if you can find a higher wattage bulb with the same base/connections.

Chinese can make quality products if they are held to some kind of quality requirements. Sans Schwinn. Schwinn scooters are made in China and so are their bicycles. Schwinn scooters were very poor quality when first being sold and some Schwinn dealers stopped selling scooters. Then Schwinn got on the stick and began to hold the Chinese Mfg to stricter quality control. There are Chinese parts in just about every scooter sold, but Mfg like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kymco, etc., require their parts to be of the same quality as what they make. Same is true of many cars and trucks. Unfortunatley, China has no patent, copyright, or trademark laws, and no quality requirements of any kind on the items they make for the open foreign markets.

My Yamaha Vino 50 2 stroke won't cold start and stay running. After 3-4 separate shots of starting fluid it starts and will idle until completely warm, then runs well. No problem warm starting. Any suggestions?

What does the plug look like? may be too rich or lean- go up or down in jet size
The carb/Jets are blocked-clean out
Air filter may be dirty
these are the first things to try.
