TO GET TO IT YOU HAVE TO FIRST REMOVE THE SEAT THERE ARE FOUR 10 MM NUTS AND ONE SCREW. THEN REMOVE THE RIGHT SIDE PANEL TO GET TO THE SENDING UNIT. AT MY SHOP I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DEFECTIVE SENDING UNIT. HOPE THIS HELPED

This is how it is for my roketta and I believe the SUNL is the same. THE SENDING UNIT IS IN THE TOP OF THE TANK. TO GET TO IT YOU HAVE TO FIRST REMOVE THE SEAT THERE ARE FOUR 10 MM NUTS AND ONE SCREW. now you should be able to see the top of the tank. In the right hand side you will see a metal ring holding in the sending unit. When you remove the metal ring by turning it counter clockwise and lifting it off. Then you can remove (pull out) the sending unit. Turn on the key and move the sending unit up and down slowly and see if your guage moves. If it does, your sending unit is fine. Put it back in and make sure the tab on the sending unit lines up with the tab on the tank. Then replace the holding ring by turning it under the tabs clockwise. I hope this helps. I don't know how many miles you have on your scooter, but uphill performance usually gets a little better with mileage. I noticed a slight improvement after break-in mileage and then again around 800 miles or so. However, poor uphill performance seems to be a common problem with 50cc Chinese scooters. Changing to lighter rollers in the variator will improve uphill, but you will lose some top end.

Note: I presumed it is 50cc and Chinese, I re-read your post and you said it does 50mph. If it is a 50cc Chinese, consider your self very lucky it runs 50mph, or your speedo is off a bunch. But the lighter weights in the variator will still improve uphill regardless of what scooter you have.

look at a new performance variator with a larger face, kevlar belt. 50mph on a 50cc 4 stroke seems a little fast. it might be 50 Kph which is 31 mph and that seems where all the small frame 50's are running

I haven't seen a stock 4T 50cc Chinese scooter that would run 50 mph on a flat. I had a 50cc Roketa, the speedo said I was running 42-43 mph which is fast for a stock 50cc, but when I used a GPS it was actually running 38-39 mph, right where it should run.

IAMGOD wrote: <quoted text>Robert, really? I had 50cc Buddy running 45 which top speed without modify.. So where you get a GPS? Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, etc etc, sell them, plus many internet websites sell them. One that just gives basic information isn't real expensive. I borrowed one from a friend. A good quality Brand name stock 50cc scooter running 45 is not out of the question, however I still suspect the speedo is reading a tad fast - but not 50 mph, not stock. I have GPS'd my Classic 3 times and the speedo is right at +2%-3% error, which is very good for a scooter. As I stated in my post I had an 07 Roketa 50cc which indicated I was running at 42-43 mph on a flat, but a GPS showed a +7% error. Also earlier this year I was riding with a friend who has a 125cc Chinese scooter. Side by side wot, his speedo was reading 3 mph faster than mine. A GPS is the only way to find out how accurate your speedo is.

I just purchased a used MC-08-50B scooter. It has 712 miles. It will start and run just fine, but after a minute or so the engine dies as if it ran out of gas. Any ideas?

Could be a lot of things, a kinked gas line, fuel filter, also a sticking carb float. I would start with the carb.

Not un-usual for a Chinese scooter. I had a 07 Roketa 50cc. The gas gauge lasted about a month. It is probably the sensor in the tank, but could be the gauge as well. Both are very expensive to repair/replace. I bought a car dipstick from a Auto parts store. Filled the gas tank, marked the full level, then the 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 levels. I checked the level every 2-3 days with the dipstick. Then after I was able to figure my mpg, I would stop and fill up my scooter every 75-80 miles. Never did fix it or run out of gas. Your tank should hold 1.4 gals and you should get "at least" 85-95 mpg.
