On another scooter forum which is now kaput, there was a formula to calculate how long it would take before a scooter would actually start saving you money. There are many many factors involved other than gas costs. The 50cc is of course the most efficient, unless you mod it. Saving money with a scooter takes longer than one thinks.

Don't forget to add the "Fun Factor." Riding on two wheels is as big a hoot this morning,as it was when I bought that first motorcycle forty years ago, this spring. There's nothing a Psychiatrist can say, or prescribe, that comes close to regular doses of "The Wind In Your Face," to help you deal with life.

Yeperoo! Scooter riding is relaxin Jacksin. Must be that Cowboy mentality.
Oh, give me roads, lots of roads under blue skies above, Don't fence me in.
Let me ride my scooter though the Country that I love, Don't fence me in.

I just got a used 07 C3 and the dealer had just put in the recall fork that has been known for cracking. But it is only getting up to 36 mph top. Is this normal? Does it need breaking in? I am shocked to hear some getting 50 mpg right out of the store...any ideas besides mods?

My C3 Scooter has never gotten less than 105mpg....With the restricting washer removed from the variator, your scooter will run 6-7mph faster. Go to Youtube, and search for "Yamaha C3 SCooter Derestriction." You'll find 5 vids by a friend, zaran1 that walk you through the simple steps involved in a "DIY" derestriction.

I have 11,000 miles on my '07 model, with no issues with the forks cracking. I did have the forks overhauled with new parts + serviced with 20wt fork fluid,(Stock fluid is 10wt.) at 4,000 miles when I blew a seal. Now she rides like a much larger scooter.$$$ well spent! Has your '07 model had the Connecting rod/crankshaft recall C/W? You can call Yamaha Customer Relations at 800 962 7926 with your vin# handy.(It's behind that oblong plastic panel, right above your feet when you're riding your scooter.)If anyone has any starting or quitting,(fuel pump)issues. These are also the folks to call, instead of going to a Dealer.....Gabe

Your never going to see 50 mph with a C3, Think more like a rear GPS 40 mph stock, Maybe 44 unrestricted.(Washer in CVT removed)

The loss in speed depends on how much you weigh.

I'm 180+ and my Wife's 2008 all stock C3 will do 39.5 mph(GPS) even up hill with me on it, Rev limiter is the only thing holding it back from going faster.

I'm sure thats with the factory restriction washer in place, and the rev-limiter is a piece of software in the ECU which sets a limit for the engine rpm electronically.

Mike - why whould you post a problem with a Roketa in a forum thread that is titled "2007 YAMAHA C3 MOTOR SCOOTER"? There are Roketa threads already in the forum to list Roketa problems. DM

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Libra

Someone is convinced they're in the right under the Lunar Eclipse, and they don't care how they get their point across. If there's trouble in your neighborhood, get it sorted out by putting your thoughts down in a blog, or on paper. Don't let anyone, even siblings, treat you like this, even if you balk at standing your ground under this moody cloud. Travel plans may be upset, and spiritual pursuits, and dealings with foreigners or people of other cultures is subject to pressure too.
