Not-A-Happy-Owner wrote: "Why would anyone tell you to remove the battery when it just started the machine ?" To winterize it. Good thing I did because we actually had snow here this year for a whole week and below freezing temps for a while. "This is about the Lance, right?" I call it Damn Lance. "You don't say how old the Lance is but I think it's low miles I remember reading. If it's already paid for and you have room to park two machines, I'd keep it and work through the problems." Damn Lance is a 2008. No, I don't have room to store it. The Honda (hereafter called the Dream Machine) gets the rights to the shed, so now I have Damn Lance in a neighbor's carport with a motorcycle cover over it. It has been sprayed upon by Feral Cat so now I can't even use it for the Dream Machine once Damn Lance is sold. "There's someone in your yellow pages who culd fix it. Better than losing a thousand dollars selling it." Our local yellow pages is 3 pages long. I live where you truly can't get there from here. We do have a local mechanic but I've already bought him a new car with last year's labor for Damn Lance. Not going to buy him another one this year. "If the Hondas ever in the shop for a few days you'll still have a ride with the Lance." What? Dream Machine in the shop? Never. Apparently I have to take it in for service at 600 miles. "Do you have safety inspections where you live?" Not on the 4.9 square mile rock where I live. I'm sure there's one further south, about 2.5 hours and 4 border crossings away, round trip. Of course I can't make this trip on the Lance because it's highway so it's a huge hassle and might become a strain on my friendship with anyone who owns a pickup truck. I was referring to state run inspections. You don't have that then or you'd know it. You'd have an inspection sticker on your car windshield someplace. It's funny the blue man fell from the rooftop and never went "splat". Do you still see him?

I'm actually buying a scooter in the near future, and I'm a 41 year old, very much hetrosexual male! The scooter is even pink (which will be getting painted metallic blue). To me, its all about saving money on fuel, and besides that; I really don't give a cr@p about what somebody thinks of me.

You'll instantly be labeled as a drunkard and you better pack a pancho for when it rains. Just don't get a Chinese scooter, saw a wheel come off one of them recently and they poor chap faceplanted.

Don't pay any attention to him, he has been drinking again.

Actually that was a question to me, which is why I put it in quotes, and then I answered right after that. That whole message was a question and answer thing and I couldn't figure out how else to do it. And yes, I removed it for winter storage. On my Lance the battery is definitely just extra baggage, since the speedo and gas gauge don't work properly anyway. And since the electric start doesn't work I don't really need a battery for that either. Oh the joys of Lance. I suppose lights and turn signals are important so it's best to keep it charged. I wonder if the person who started this forum "my wife and I are considering a scooter" ever bought one and what they ended up with. I sure hope they ended up with a Yamaha, Honda or Vespa or whatever else is out there that isn't Chinese.

Right on up to 600cc's But my favorite out there was a honda motorcycle retailing for 4200.oo

How many girls trust a guy with their machine.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!. Why didn't you do that before you wanted us to do all the legwork for you. By the way, better check the NC website for modpeds. That is where I got the information.
