Bought a Lance Vintage 150 from countyimports.com in March 2008. So far no problems. Ive got 210 miles on it already and have only filled up the tank twice! Countyimports deliverd within 10 days and I was able to track shipment. Assembly was pretty easy (even for a girl...). Change the fluids to American Made when you get delivery. Ive had a couple of emails to company and they both were responded to in a timely fashion. Would recommend company.

Very pleased with my touring 150. Not physically appealing as the vintage, however handles extremely well at 55+ for a 15 mile stretch today. Easily kept up with traffice on 55 MPH road. Must be the long wheelbase?

The wife and I bought 2 Lance Duke touring (hers a 150 and mine a 250) I now have a 1000 miles on mine and we absolutely love them!!!

We have traveled to the mountains and I made a 65 mile trip on mine to Santa Fe, NM so I have no reservations on these at all.

We got ours from Scootersus.com and their service was impeccable......

and P.S. the kids love these as well!!!!!!!!!

I bought my Lance GSR-150 about 2 months ago from www.motortoyshop.com . I have been VERY pleased with the scooter. I did forget to check the bolts on the muffler to see if they were tight and eventually the nuts fell off and the gasket burned up. I tried like hell to order a replacement gasket from scootersfactory.com , but none of my credit cards would work on their site. I found a place online called scootersgeorgia.com and was able to get a new gasket in about a week. Half as much as the one at scootersfactory.com too. Wendy at motortoyshop.com said she'd put in a warranty claim for me like 3 weeks ago, but she has called back twice to ask what it was I needed again and I'm not sure if she has even done anything with it yet. I even offered just to buy a new one outright. I realize that their business is really picking up and that they are very busy, but I do think it is unprofessional to tell your customers how much of a pain it is to put in the claims. I think they need to get some more help!

Overall though, I love my scooter! I get many compliments, and $5 a week to commute to work beats $35 any day!

its true. the lance vintage 150 is a piece of crap. i live in hawaii and figured getting a fairly priced scooter would be the ideal way to get around. maybe it is, but dont get a lance scooter. awful. here's my review:
thats interesting. my review of the vintage 150 that i posted weeks ago is no longer here. i wonder why?
its funny that the only 2 reviews on this site are 5 star reviews. i had written a 3 star review for my vintage describing problems i have had in the 4 months of owning it. ill go ahead and post it again, either way.
within the first month of having my vintage i was pleased. it ran well, looked great, and got me from point a to point b. at the end of that month, i started noticing rust on the scooter. after 1 month?
since owning it, ive had many problems. all within that first month. the front shock started leaking pretty bad. after 15 minutes of riding, the engine bogs down and shuts off. all of the chrome has rusted (handlebars, instrument panel, rims, engine). i hit the brakes a little harder than normal once and ever since, the rotors squeal HORRIBLY and never stop. after calling scootersarecool about these problems, they more or less know nothing about the problems. i had very general questions about where certain common fixes were located and no one knew. although they were very willing to try and help, nothing really came of talking on the phone with them. and not to mention my previous negative review was removed by them regarding the vintage 150. whats the point of having user reviews on this site if you cant take criticism?
when i received the scooter back in april, i had paid $1,299 for it. now seeing it selling for $500 more than i did, i cant help but write this review and give everyone another side of these scooters. if id do it again, id splurge the extra cash and get a honda.

Y'all are so smart to check here- many of you _before_ giving your money away.

We have 2 Lance dealers in San Diego and 3 more in the northern suburbs. And there are several more in town who claim to be dealers (like the illiterate donny who spams this conversation) but have no business address, license, history or approval from Lance. Check with the Lance distributor before you give your money to a 'dealer' even if it's in your home town.

what Dealers sell Lance in the Phoenix area ?

The local dealer is actually in Tempe right near ASU. The shop is called The Urban Commuter. I just stopped in there today and spent quite some time talking to the owner. All he did was praise Lance scooters. He carries several different brands there, including Vespa. He seemed to prefer Lance. He said that the company is great to work with. He also said that turn around on parts is only about 3 days if something needs to be ordered. He is supposed to be getting a couple of Vintages in tomorrow and is going to call me so that I can come in and check them out. I am very much looking forward to getting my own.

If you live in the Phoenix area and are considering a scooter here is some cheap advice. China has owned the license to produce 250cc and smaller Japanese engines from Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki for 30 years! ZNEN is the parent company for a number of lines such as Lance, Roketa and BMS (among others, sort of like GM is the Parent of Chev and Cad). There are several authorized dealers for their lines here and they are located more or less in a "wheel" around Phoenix central - check the web site of the brand you are interested in to see if the shop is an authorized dealer AND the factory warranty requirements. There are also several shops selling ZNEN branded bike that are NOT authorized dealers. Be wary of these bikes - they might well be factory rejects, i.e. "salvage" bikes. Two years ago we had virtually nothing but Vespa, Yamaha, Honda and one Italian off brand to choose from and dealers charged accordingly. Today you can get a quality bike from an authorized dealer for at, near or even under the MSRP including delivery, setup, tax and license! At least one dealer discounts the sales price but charges extra for a full factory warranty. In part because most of his sales until 2007 were for ATVs not scooters and most of his customer were from out of town. Factory warranty requirements are often stringent and often require that all maintenence and parts be done by an authorized shop. Any modifications to the bike void the warranty. My dealer has recently opened his 2nd location and is promoting it by super pricing when the buyer is referred by a current customer. Also shop around for insurance - my American Family full coverage cost me less that 1/2 of the Progressive quote and was $900 under the Foremost quote for the same coverage! Friends have bought from Urban Commuter and are very happy with their bike and dealer, I bought from AZ Toy Zone (nearer my home) and am very happy with my treatment from them and the BMS branded bike. Just remember when you shop - if you buy the bottom of the line, there is usually a good reason why it is the bottom of the line!

For Lori and Dale - Scootertronics.com has both the GY6 engine and a GY6 service manual. Haynes publishes a 50cc to 250cc scooter manual that covers most bike sold since 1980. Factory manuals are very hard to come by and most are in Chinese or are a bad translation. Google your specific Brand to get to the Brands home site and contact them for your closest dealer. One out of two scooters sold in the world today are either made in China or assembled from Chinese made parts. Unfortunately this means that the bulk of the "salvage" bikes being sold on the web today also came from China and may have a brand name applied to them. The Lance 150 (and other ZNEN made bikes) made in 2007 and sold by unauthorized pepople may have a problem with the motor "dying" after 2 or 3 miles. I think that this comes from an automatic "kill" switch that was tried to meet California requirements. You will sometimes find these installed on the kickstand. Disable or by pass the auto "kill" switch.

Rough ride on China scooter - Smallest wheel base scooters often have a rough ride because of high tire pressures and short wheelbase. Check your tire pressure. As delivered my touring 150 had 60 pounds front and 55 pounds rear - factory spec calls for 25 front and 32 rear.

I just bought a Lance scooter from a local dealer here in Arizona. I did what everyone said and buy locally instead of online. I was extremely happy with my purchase, I got the Lance Vintage model for $1500. I had ridden it for 2 weeks. On my way to the grocery store, the throttle cable got stuck when I was going 50 MPH on the highway. I used both brakes to slow down and then had to lay the bike down. Looking back, I probably could have hit the kill switch, but when you are flying down a street with cars and are in panic mode going 50 MPH, it is hard to think. I luckily came out with only some scraped knees and elbows. I would never ever purchase a Lance scooter again. I am still debating with my wife if we should file a civil lawsuit. I went to the dealer that I purchased from and they dropped the Lance line after inspecting the bike, and seeing that it actually was defective. There are plenty of other brands out there that I have not tried, but would reccomend that everyone avoid Lance. They are death traps, and the company does not even have enough money if you were to file a suit, as they cannot even afford their own EPA certificates as my lawyer found out, nor do they have product liability insurance.
Don't know who you bought your scooter from but Lance is a ZNEN brand and my ZNEN scooter has EPA and CARB certification. along with Manufacturer and importer data, tune up specs and tire pressures on a metal plaque riveted to the under seat storage area. Suggest that your lawyer check out the "dealer" and whether they were ever authorized to sell or service your scooter. Oh, and you can google ZNEN or Lance for more info on authorized dealers. There is a 300 km break-in period with speed restricted to 50 kph (30 mph) and a required service at that time. Did you follow the warranty requirements?

My question is geared toward the DMV. I recently went to get plates for my 150 CC Lance. The DMV said that they couldn't issue the plates until they verified that the manufacturer was an approved company per the US Dept of Motor Vehicles, otherwise I could be denied and cannot ride the bike as it would be constituted as not legal on the streets of Colorado. Does anyone know? They told me two weeks before I would find out, but it has been that long and I haven't heard back from the DMV yet.
Thanks for your feedback. I asked this question with the Lance Powersports rep from their website, but he never answered that question.

We bought a Lance 50cc scooter from neoscooters.com which is affiliated with some others mentioned here. It cost about $1200 and I agree you do get what you pay for, but... the thing should work for at least a year. Since we had never owned or really ridden anything like this we wanted a starter model. It ran for about a week (we managed to get 20 miles on it) then began to have problems such as dying after about 10 seconds. It took about 2-3 weeks to actually get the scooter, then another couple to get the paperwork in order to get the license to get a license plate. In the meantime we are spending much more on gas than we had planned. I have been playing email tag with someone or several people now for about 4-6 weeks. Nothing has been accomplished! They keep emailing things to try, but none have been any help. I left my numbers, no phone call. I finally told them I either want my money back or a replacement scooter. We'll see what happens with that one.

I ordered a Lance Vintage from CountyImports.com this past weekend. After reading many negative reviews from owners, I cancelled my order. I would like to purchase a scooter with dependability as its' selling point. I'm assuming that the Japanese brand would be a reliable product. Anyone has a recommendation from personal experience with scooters??

If you look at the lance website they have a locator for dealers that are around you. I put in Lansing, MI and the closest one to you is about 83 miles away.
