Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 Cruises Into US Market

Has anyone purchased the a Norge yet? I am interested in buying one and would like to hear some feed back.

I picked on up on December 26th. Coming from a 1999 Bassa, this has all of the torque and drive of the traditional Guzzi, but it rides higher and handles pavement of all grades a lot better. The heated grips are excellent.

I had a Triumph Trophy for a whole month inbetween the Bassa and Norge, this is a superior bike.

Thanks for the comments. I have a BMW K75S and a Victory Vegas that I am riding now and will probable get rid of the Victory.I am waiting for the dealer in Jacksonville Fl. to tell me one has arrived but have not gotten that phone call as of yet.

Went to the Northeast Bike show this past Saturday and sat on the NORGE. All of the three (3) dealers in Connecticut have them in stock and in different colors.

Bike fit my short legs better the the Sprint ST and i made an appoinmet to take a test ride in a few weeks.

I had a friend that rode a older Motor Guzzi for a while back in the 60's. I have been riding a Harley for years and want a change but am lost when it comes to anything other than Harley.

I am looking at a Norge and a Dukati 4 and am wondering which is best, speed, torque, mantanice and just plain fun? What is your opinion on this, if you would be so kind?

I bought a Norge in January and have been able to put 70 miles on it before winter set in here in New Hampshire.The bike handles great and has all the power I need.I think it to be the best looking bike on the market and can't wait to pack some miles on her.My only observation is to put a front fender extension tip on the back side to keep the finish on the lower fairing piece from getting sanded off. I already have a little paint missing in that spot.From what I understand there are not very many Norges in the warehouse and no info when more are due.

I bought a Norge in December. Living in CA, I have been able to ride 950 miles on it in Jan before going to 1,000 mi service. I traded in a 89 BMW K100. The Norge has been excellent so far. I often get looks and positive comments from fellow bikers. I think this is the hottest bike available. I think the scarcity of the bike also makes it attractive. This is not a commodity bike. I considered a R1200RT, but this bike made my heart pump faster. Powerful, attractive, throaty exhaust note, and good touring comfort make this a good choice in my book. The only issue is the ground clearance on steep turns. I sometimes hit the stand on deep lean angles.

What a great looking motorcycle! I too am ready to get off the "cruiser style" touring bike and on to something else. I have a Honda Shadow ACE Tourer with a Mustang seat, so I'm anxious to hear how the Norge will be for the longer hours in the saddle. Maybe they will get it right and the owner does not have to spend $600 to $700 on an aftermarket seat.
I will have to wait a few more weeks as we still have a lot of snow here. I'm checking out dealers now.

One thing about the Norge I feel I should mention.While waiting for winter to change to spring I have had some time to become aquainted with the Norge as far as routine maintenance. I read the manual to find out how to check the oil level,and found out the left,right and bottom fairing had to be removed, and the left inner fairing pulled away from the engine to access the dipstick.This procedure could take up to 15 to 20 minutes and could result in a broken fairing piece if things are not done correctly.Then it all has to be put back together which is another 15 to 20 minutes,and all this to check the oil.What i did was design a tool to reach in between the cylinder and the left outer and inner fairing, slip it over the dipstick and unscrew it and remove it.I found out the dipstick would not fit by the left inner fairing so I took a file and carefully rounded the opening enough to get the dipstick out.I can now check the oil in 10 seconds.The filed opening looks factory.Now I have made a bunch of these for Norge owners and sell them for $20.00 plus shipping.If you are in need let me know.My email is noelcassidy@verizon.net.

Any opinions Norge's fairing stop the rain?

I am looking for a touring/sport/commuter with a full fairing that will stop the rain.

Many years ago I rode my 1970 Kawasaki 500 triple all day in the rain up the FL coast with a full Vetter fairing. I also had a full Vetter on my 1974 BMW 900. If I remember right, I was kept fairly free of rain, as long as I kept the bikes moving.

I use my present ride for commuting many times, not just weekend fair weather riding. I would like to keep my Honda VT1100C cruiser but I cannot find a suitable fairing for it.

I love riding the Norge in the rain. With the windshield in the high posiiton and as long as you're cruising, the rain flows around you. That said, you're not going to get home dry by any means. The Norge helps dissipate rain, but cannot make it disappear.
I carry LL Bean pant and jacket shells and waterproof boots in the bags when I expect the rain to come. That works quite well.

This message be coming a bit late for you, but for those still on the fence, get the Norge 1200. I must say that the power, performance and the durability of the great addition to MG's line is so worthwhile.

As an aside, looks alone, hands down this bike gets the comments and sparks conversation with random bike ogglers, and even Beemer loyalists. The fact that it’s not a Japanese brand seems to confuse many who come up and say “is that the new Kawasaki?” or some other brand? Than they see the red MG symbol and say,“really nice.”

The reason to buy this bike, however, is the torque, the speed and the exhilaration of being on a bike that can endure NYC streets and traffic and easily fly up the highways and winding back roads. It’s not for the faint of heart, though. Weighing close to 600 lbs, it’s heavy and sturdy, but not easily manipulated in very slow traffic if you’re using backed up traffic as your personal obstacle course. That said, it’ narrow enough to get in-between wherever – the matched panniers do not extend wider than the front fairing.

This is my third Guzzi, having had the Jackal and the Bassa before hand and it lives up to my expectations.

You just feel good on this bike.

I have a 1985 Motoguzzi Lario as a project bike and am interested in purchasing a Norge to replace my 1997 ST1100 Honda as a 2 up long distance touring motorcycle.

Any feedback good or bad?

The ST is a good motorcycle but ageing quickly. Would I be dissapointed with the Norge?

The St1100 is great on long trips and it had a Corbin seat fitted when we bought the bike. My wife is my pillion and has two steel rods in her back from an operation and she has no trouble doing 700klms per day.

Other owners have told me the original seat isn't as comfortable as the Corbin.

Began shopping for a sport touring bike with a BMW in mind. My dealer sells BMW, Triumph, and Moto Guzzi. I was also considering the Kawasaki Councourse 14 ABS. I am a small guy, 5' 10" and 160. The BMW RT1200 was just too big a machine, I felt lost on it. I looked at the Triumph Sprint but wasn't inspired. The salesman said "I have one more in the corner that might be just what you're looking for." There sat the Norge - it was love at first sight. Gorgeous lines, sleek, streamlined. I sat on the bike and it fit like a glove. Since that showing, I have also looked at the Kawasaki. It's a fine bike to be sure, but I felt no emotional connection to it. THere is something about the Norge that jumped out at me. All of the research I have done seems to bear out what my salesman told me, you can't go wrong with the Norge. I reserved mine today, and will pick it up next week. Will let you know how it goes, but I'm hooked, this bike is a stand out in its class.

52 yr old havent ridden since 1980.1996 KZ900 considering a norge 1200 any commments please
