Speed alone will not get you put in jail. It didn't happen to them, and it wouldn't happen to you neither. The only way you would end up going to jail would be if you had a suspended license, a warrant, or you were jut being a downright bunghole with the officer and the decided to slap a disorderly charge on you.
Here is what I found from the Circleville Municipal Court for speed violations: 55/65 MPH ZONE OVER LIMIT FINE/COST 0-9 MILES $ 110.00 10-14 MILES $ 125.00 15-19 MILES $ 140.00 20-24 MILES $ 160.00 25-29 MILES $ 210.00 30 & OVER MANDATORY APPEARANCE And here is Lancaster Municipal Court: SPEEDING CHARGE: 01 TO 20 MPH OVER $120.00 21 TO 35 MPH OVER $145.00 36 MPH AND OVER $170.00 So, nowhere on there does it say that you'll be arrested and fined thousands upon thousands of dollars if you're not a Gahanna Police Officer or State Trooper. Some of you people need to quit listening to the bar room attorneys and find facts out for yourselves. |

Funny thing, I got a $33 dollar fine (plus court costs) for going 11 MPH over the speed limit, he goes 82 MPH over and gets $150? My fine $3 for every MPH over, he should have had a $246 fine. Just another example of how the police are ABOVE the law.

I THINK IT IS REDICULOUS THAT A POLICE OFFICER WOULD EVEN DRIVE THIS FAST. WHAT IS WORSE IS HE WASN'T CHARGED WITH WRECKLESS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE. THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST COVERUPS I HAV EVER SEEN. JUST BECAUSE YOU WEAR A BADGE DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING

That's fine and dandy, but where does it say that you get a $150 fine for doing 80+ over the speed limit. Looks like the minimum that should be charged is 170, if not 210. I don't claim to know every intricacy of the law, but common sense tells me this punishment does not fit the crime. He is going to have work related driving allowed, so how the heck does this hurt him monetarily aside from the $150+ Court Costs. I personally don't think he should be hung at the cross, but I think a $500, maybe $750 fine plus license suspension would be a proper fit. This man, cop or not, should not be allowed to drive until he pays his dues for having a complete disregard for human life. 30-90 suspended license should stay and no driving allowed. They could give him a desk job for the next couple of months. Just my $0.02 |

Show me in the Ohio Revised Code. |

These are the fine, plus applicable court costs. The Ohio Revised Code limits the actual fine, and the courts can add reasonable costs to cover the court time and involvement. |
||||
Just thinking aloud here, but would the court have spent more time/money on this case over a ho-hum traffic ticket? Given all the extra stuff that has gone on? No idea, just wondered. |

Nice information, but where does wreckless op. fit in? I am sure if I was caught doing these speeds I would be charged for it? BIG QUESTION IS HOW THE HECK CAN I GET WORKERS COMP FOR A BACK INJURY AND STILL BE ABLE TO RIDE MY BACK?? SEEMS CROOKED TO ME,.... just saying it makes you wonder. |

You are the moron. I happen to have talked to people who were in the know. The government covers things all the time. Did your mother have any kids that lived? You are a prime example of the effect of inbreeding. |

The court costs would certainly be higher if there was a trial, and the increased court costs, including the cost of sitting a jury (if needed) would all be passed to the defendant, if there is a finding of guilty. The costs reflected in this list would be the standard court costs that the court starts with. |

I totally agree. He should not be held to a higher standard just because he's a cop.
