A parent being taken away right before a child's eyes has got to be horrific. Then, add to the fact that it happened during what HAD been one of the boy's best experiences of his life- up to that very moment- when everything just turned upside down and it became the ultimate nightmare.

I feel sick to my stomach for all the mental baggage that child is going to deal with- for the rest of his life. Life could never be more brutal or twisted.

Then on the part of the ballplayer. We know it wasn't his fault. He knows it wasn't his fault. But there will always be questions in his mind as to 'why this' or 'why that' or what he should have done to somehow make it not happen. Almost like being an aid to a sick crime- even though he never was at all.

God help them both. Maybe they should try to survive this together in someway.
