Before the ball landed, Jay Bruce raised his right index finger in celebration and the Reds raced out of the dugout.

I'm sorry, but by what measure can you claim Cincinnati to be "the greatest baseball town in America" when only 30,000 fans show up to see their "beloved" team clinch its first playoff spot in 15 years?

That is just plain weak. Can someone who lives in the metro area explain why more fans don't show up? The Reds haven't even drawn two million this season despite being in contention all year. I get why Tampa fans don't go...their ballpark is atrocious... but Great American seems like a nice venue.

By the way, 38,000+ showed up at a day game today to see the Pirates play the Cardinals, who didn't have Pujols or Holliday in the line-up.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why that is. You would think that even with the money struggles a lot of people have gone through, they would be making their way to the park. I hope that changes as the Reds deserve to fill the stadium for the playoff games. These guys weren't expected to do anything and they have silenced the doubters. 15 years is too long to go without the Reds seeing the post-season. I'm glad Jay Bruce got the clincher, he is young and this could catapult him to being a great player. He is already a great fielder, and becoming a heck of a hitter in front of our eyes.
