And you are obviously not a baseball fan. Have some respect for an icon.

It amuses me about all the yahoos who live here that knock the sports, life styles and the people in the Southern California area. There is no mention, on their part, about the stink hole they had to leave due to the miserable conditions they were living under.

Scully needs some caffeine, it is dreadful sometimes hearing him talk to himself, no excitement at all when a homerun is hit

To really appreciate Scully one only needs to listen to "Phys" and "Hud" do an Angel game! Sure, Vinny gets corny sometimes and he even makes mistakes on occaision, but he beats the hell out of all the others. I like the idea of one person calling the game. Why do we need 2 or 3 blowhards in the booth?

Vinny over the years, has been the man who represents the Dodgers, when you here his voice on radio, you know that Dodger baseball is here. we have come acustome to hearing that beautiful voice of his and when the day comes when he says good by it will be a very sad day in Dodger land.

Icons of sports broadcasting, practically by definition, have to be "dinosaurs" or guys/gals that have been around for what seems like forever. I can remember listening to Vin Scully when he was broadcasting from Ebbets Field when I was a kid back east. Chick Hearn: Was there ever a more colorful play by play man for NBA basketball? How about Keith Jackson for NCAA football? The list goes on.

After a decade and a half of attending Saturday night Quakes minor league games, my wife actually learned to love the game of baseball. She actually remembers her dad listening to Vin broadcast Dodger games and loves to hear him spin his tales. Sure Vin makes more mistakes now. If you're lucky enough to reach his age, let's see how well you do.

BTW, my wife is an Angels fan but thinks Vin is the greatest baseball broadcaster. If there's a Dodger game on and no Angel game, she's got the Dodger game on and knows their starting lineup all because of Vin. Maybe it's his melodic voice.

Respect those who really know the game and have been good enough to last as long as they have entertaining the fans. If they weren't any good at what they do, they would have been dumped long ago.
