Mets' shaky Perez staggers 5 innings but gets win

Full story: Newsday

After nine weeks on the disabled list, Oliver Perez showed last night that he can still do all the same things he did before he went on hiatus with a bad knee: annoy the fans, frustrate his manager and yet somehow give the Mets a chance to win.

Nice to see Ollie back. Not the greatest pitched game....7 walks not good...but they got the win and got off the schneid. Let's see if they can make it 2 in a row.

7 walks = No command of pitches. Not a $12M/yr pitcher in my book. But a win is a win nonetheless.

do you have to post this same sentence every day, are you that starved for attention, that just to get people to tell you you suck gives you a sense of somebody will talk to me. you trully have a sad life if this is your only enjoyment. how about you go for a nice long walk and give your computer a rest, not that it gets a workout with only one sentence and you probely cut and paste, since you dont seem to know how to put together any type of thought, since we see that same one each day. go see michael jackson, hes calling you!

Try a July collapse. You need to be in it in September to collapse. Stick a fork in them.

NoStephanFan....Why do you waste all your time on every single mets article? I cant figure out what fan you really are? Your lack of creativity is embarrasing to Yankee fans. No one cares that you like to say 'september collapse'. Get a new bit.

GO YANKS!

I watched the game on ESPN and no doubt in my mind that if available, they need to ask Rick Sutcliff to be their pitching coach. His analysis of Perez and his pitching and advice over the air was spot on. I have no idea what Werthen told Perez on the mound but I bet Sutcliff's advice would have been better. To heck with Delgado, do you think we found a first basema in Murphy? I honestly think the game plan is to get all the young guys a lot of playing time this year and go into next season with them penciled in permanently and get rid of the deadwood over the winter.

Yes a win is a win but come on nothing changes with this joker. Cuckoo Friend & Ollie has a typical outing 7 walks, 2 runs 4 hits 5 innings 108 pitches. He's fortunate to get credit for a win. What was Omar Papaya thinking signing him for 3 years 36 million? The guy isn't worth 36 cents. Thank God for Wright & Murphy (nice play in the field by the way) & the cavalcade got the job done finally. But 1 win doesn't make a season. Can they make it 2 of 3 against Joe's Dodgers before the Redstockings come in for 3, & maybe take 2 there get to within 1 of 500 before the break? Probably not with this pop gun offense & shaky pitching but who knows. Baseball is a funny game (sorry Joe Garagiola). Let's see if Livan can come back from his Friday debacle in Philly & have a better performance. LETS GO METS!!! Still Omar & the Buddah (Manuel) must go!
