Masked by the offensive ineptitude is the poor performance by Pelfrie. The wheels have now officially come off the Mets' caravan.

Obviously the Coupons won't allow Minaya to add payroll after their shrewd investing with Madoff worked out so well. While the Coupons behaving like the Pirates is absurd given the Mets' status as the 2nd highest revenue generating team in MLB, it is also worth noting that Minaya is NOT the guy to entrust with making moves. He is so far in over his head and over-matched that he shouldn't hold the position to begin with. He does simply because he is the Coupon's stooge-willing to say (incoherently) whatever crap he's told to disseminate. Tread water till the injured guys come back? Are you kidding? Delgado, Beltran, and Reyes will NOT be rushing back anytime soon. The work ethic and commitment to this team has been laughable for 3 years. Reyes is undisciplined, and unmotivated. Delgado is a manager killer with an arrogance that exceeds his ability to produce. And Beltran is the Cigar Store Indian-autistic, dumb, and bereft of any emotion or intangible qualities. David Wright has become a joke--infected with the undisciplined culture so ingrained since Minaya took over. He rarely hustles, has regressed, and his never ending pablum about "day at a time, and keep battling" should be shoved down his non-producing throat. Most troubling of all is Minaya's lack of awareness and cluelessness when it comes to his knowledge of the game's players. He apparently watches the same 15 guys or so that Tony Bernazard gives him, and lacks the mental acuity to expand his knowledge. Yes, Eric Hinske is nowehere near a difference maker. But neither were Reed Johnson, Orlando Hudson, David Eckstein, Kyle Lohse, or any of the other guys who could have been had for pennies on the dollar over the last 2 years, but were never even contacted by Omar. He seems strangely unaware of solid players who would at least offer incremental improvement over the crap he's assembled. He is overmatched. under-qualified, and needs to be shown the door. Jerry Manuel--like Willie Randolph before him are clearly not the problems--however they are just as clearly not the solutions either. This team needs a veteran manager with presence who will bench lack of hustle and mental errors. Charlie Manuel benched Rollins a couple of times last year--how'd that work out? Tony laRussa, Piniella, Valentine---none will ever be hired because they would out-shine and dwarf the presence of Omar; and be too authoritative for the Coupons to handle. Jeffy would never allow Tony LaRussa to tell him about baseball. After all, he went to high school with the Madoff boys---no one has to teach them about ripping off people-whether they be investors or fans.

No one is forgetting Pelphrey's forgettable performance last night. Though in fairness--he's been better the past month than Johan (I did everything I could) Santana; who has the same uncanny ability that Tom Glavine had. Whenever an error is made behind either of them, they have this innate ability to serve up 3 line drives immediately after that error. Real aces, huh? I hate this Mets team so much.

what is to be said. this team is about as major league as a little league team. as soon as the other team scores a run, the game is over. i will not set my foot in citifield again this year (accept for Paul McCartney). it is to depressing to watch a team with just about no major league talent try to play this game. hopefully, other fans will wake up and start staying away in mass. this is the only way to show displeasure with the crap that the mets put on the field. but wait, i just thought of it, angel pagan should be ready to play shortly..........WOW
the team is behind help and the most annoying think is they just dont want to try something to secure another hitter for this pathetic lineup. what is even more scarier, is next year.. oy vey Wilpon's wake up and see what a mess has been created. the opening year of the new stadium has been ruined by a lack of caring. as long as the turnstiles keep turning, you will be happy. keep it up and see how many subscribers you loose over the winter. watching the mets is like giving money to bernie madoff-right down the toilet.

I became a baseball fan in the late 70's. My team, somehow, was the Mets. This team right now reminds me of those teams.

And it ain't getting better any time soon.

Anyone that could not see that this season was a disaster before it even started is clueless about baseball. This team had no shot even before the injuries. Face it, the Wilpon's have no track record of success nor do they have a clue on how to put a real 'team' on the field. What a disaster and a collossal embarassment of a team.

I realize this will never happen, but in reality the Mets should be sellers right now and get back quality players/prospects. The only untouchables in my opinion are Wright, Santana, and K-Rod. Reyes has had injury problems his whole career and there is no reason to believe that in ever going to change.
