Sorry, but I wouldn't even ask him to call me in the morning. I may not be THE Dayton Moore, but if I were, I would not be so stupid. It's not like he's 35. Not even 28 for goodness sakes. We already let Melky go, and granted it looks like we may have gotten a good deal there. But Gordo?!?!?!?!? You kidding me???? I mean I believe the sky's the limit for this guy if he stays healthy. Can you imagine as Mouse develops having to face a batting order where the leadoff hitter hits 30 home runs (don't laugh, it's going to happen). Then three or four more with 20-plus, and if Mouse gets it figured out, he could be another 30 HR guy. Sorry, but that is sounding an awful lot like a team that wears those silly striped pants. And it's not like Gordo is hurting us defensively. In fact, he's probably one of the best outfielders we have ever had defensively (okay, that might be saying a bit much), but he is well on his way to having a Hall of Fame career. How nice would it be to see a second Royal in Cooperstown?!?!? If I was THE Dayton Moore, I find a way to lock him in to an extended contract and then in a couple of years when we're tearing up the AL Central and making a pennant run, a lot of these young guys will want to stay even if offered more money elsewhere. After all, they all want to win. At the end of their career, they don't want to say, well, I made $300 million in my career but never sniffed the post-season. No, they would settle for a lot less if they had some rings on their fingers! And that, my friends, is where these Royals are headed whether you choose to believe it or not!!!! Thanks!
