In a strange way, having to win the game with Cuddyer's homer in the 8th and Nathan closing may have given the Twins even more of an emotional boost going into today's game. The essential: the Twins won, and it's a good bet that Mijares, if called upon again, will be difficult to hit as he tries to atone for yesterday. We watched Matt Guerrier on numerous occasions get drilled last season, and on those occasions, the Twins would lose. Frankly, this is no time to look at the negative.

Johan Santana did "stoop" to such a thing last year and was great at it! He pitched a 3-hit shutout on short rest in the same situation last year for the NY Mets at his request - it was the next to last day of the season & one game out of the wild card & he had thrown 125 ptiches in his previous start.
