"The Angels won the series 5-4 in the regular season."
- The Yankees played the Angels TEN times and split the season series.

"The Angels outscored the Yankees 61-48, averaging 6.8 runs per game."
- You discounted the April 30th game. The Yankees won 7-4. The Angels actually outscored the Yankees 65-55 but it's irrelevant since the series was split.

If you want to discuss numbers... the Yankees have an ERA of 1.55 in the ALDS with 34 strikeouts. The Angels have an ERA of 2.33 with 16 strikeouts. Pitching. Specifically, power pitching wins games in the playoffs. New York in 6.

It's all about matchups...

... the Angels match up well versus the Yankees and have owned them the way Boston owned the Angels in past years.

The Angels score on Yankees pitching, because they have good, contact hitters and have scored on a regular basis against the best of Yankees starters.

Conversely, Angels pitching does quite well against NY, particulary the bullpen.

Angels in 5.

Figgins needs to crank up his game. He can't be going dry at this point in the playoffs.

"the Angels match up well versus the Yankees and have owned them the way Boston owned the Angels in past years."
-Yea Boston owned the Angels the past years and what happened this year? After the all-star break, the Angels managed to win one game out of four against us.

"The Angels score on Yankees pitching, because they have good, contact hitters"
-the Yankees lead the MLB in runs, hits, homeruns, walks, on base, slugging, extra base hits and they have the 4th lowest strikeouts in all of baseball. If the Angels are contact hitters then The Yankees are contact hitters with better discipline and more power.

"and have scored on a regular basis against the best of Yankees starters."
-True but why was the season series split 5-5 then?

"Conversely, Angels pitching does quite well against NY, particulary the bullpen."
-Fuentes blew a save against the Yankees this year but Rivera never blew a save this season against the Angels. More importantly, the Angels bullpen lost THREE games against New York but the Yankees bullpen only lost ONE against Anaheim. You must be smoking that good westcoast herb if you think that the Angel bullpen is better than the Yankee bullpen.

So like i said... Yankees in 6!!!

All of your stats have been applicable in previous years. If you're trying to make your case on stats, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment.. AGAIN.
In the previous matchups with the Angels (over the years) the Yankees led (or been near the top) in HR's, runs scored, etc... and what did it get them?
The Angels send them home every time... that's against Clemens, Petite, Mussina, Wells, et. al. The BEST the Yankees have had over the years has not sufficed.
So, leave the stats out of your analysis. If you think the Yankees are due to break the streak, that's one thing.
However, your stats are meaningless the same way they have been over the last 5+ years when the Angels have sent the Yanks home.

Red Sox fan since first grade (1946). I'd like to congradulate the Angels; they played like they wanted it and were the better team. Now, do this old fan a favor and go and kick some Yankee ass!

Yankee fans always seem to bring up past stats to make themselves feel better,or to make any non-yankee fan feel intimidated. Fact is ,the post season brings out the hero in the least likely player ,team etc.and that includes the Yankees. It's a completely different atmosphere and one can expect the "un-likely" to happen. What is so great about it is when Goliath gets his A** kicked It feels so good to see Yankee fans burn then boo then burn some more....The Yanks are in for the A** whippin' of their lives.. anyone got a match?

loud dodger fan, A little cocky aren't we? The biggest mistake is taking the Yanks too lightly. This is a different Yank team then the ones from the past couple of years. A team on a mission!!!

And just like that your pitching could cave in. The Red Sox starters were good, but no match...We'll see what happens....It's why they play the games.

... and when is the last time they've bought a title?

They are playing the one team whose owner has deep pockets AND they play fundamentals.

Angels send Yankees home every time in playoffs.

The Angels have beaten us twice in the short 5-game ALDS. This is a different year and different teams. With your genius logic... the Redsox should've won in the ALDS. Just make sure to appear on this blog again when the Angels lose in 6 and take your loss like a man.

If I invest money on the Yankees by buying tickets and merchandise that profit the Yankees... it's MY team as much as it's all of the fans' team.

It doesn't work that way young man... unless you're a member of the organization, it's not your team. You clearly a fan because that explains your comments... but, they are not your team.

I already mentioned earlier that Boston had owned the Angels and that, if you're picking the Yankees, you must have the idea that streak is due to end.

You're a fan which limits your ability to converse objectively...

Even George Washington had better wooden teeth than those yellow stumps Peter Gammons has in his yap.
It's time for Socks owner John Henry or ESPN to at least spring for some teeth whitener.
There's better Halloween teeth than what Gammons has.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
