Full story: TwinCities.com

Unreliable starting pitching remains the stench that cannot be smothered this season no matter how many potential odor eaters the Twins deploy to the mound day after day.

PROLIFIC offense ??? what are you talking about ....except for one series they have played against the FOUR WORST pitching staffs in the American League the entire month of August .... that would be stat padding time especially since all these teams are deep into their minor league staffs by now as they are out of contention, minus the Angels but they have numerous injuries , lost their closer to free agency and had a death to their staff .... and this PROLIFIC offense could muster 2 runs and a single run in 2 of 3 games against the Orioles .... do you know what the word PROLIFIC means??

you cant win them all.... aprarently they cant even win half of their games. at least the chi sox & tigers lost too. too bad we couldnt take advantage and win when they lose. oh well, twinkies better step it up, they may be running out of games to bridge the gap.

It would have been the game to gain some ground on Detroit. It will be interesting to see which team wants to make the play-offs more--Texas or Minnesota. Texas is over-rated but still in contention for a wild card spot. Texas pitching isn't that great, and the Twins are in the dome. Theoretically...

The saddest thing lately has been seeing some of the other teams' young future pitchers. They all seem to have better stuff than our guys. Blackburn is solid, a guy who belongs in the rotation but at the bottom of it. Looking at the future, even with offensive production, it's hard to be positive. Where and how are the Twins going to acquire two top pitchers in order to make them competitive? Pavano is no ace, nor is Baker, really. Pavano may not even stay. Liriano and Perkins have already been tried. Slowey is another middle to bottom rotation pitcher, and who knows how his injury will have affected him. If this season looks bleak, next year looks a lot like a repeat, or worse. Let's hope for a miracle and that someone emerges from the farm system. Otherwise, the Twins will have to trade or pay for pitching, and we know how reluctant they are to do that.

I will post my prediction of Friday nights game on Saturday. Bet I will be right. Much easier than posting a prediction before it actually happens, huh?

Neshek has been out for two seasons, and he had a very serious injury, not to mention his unorthodox pitching style. He's not a starter. It's nice to see the enthusiasm, though. We Twins fans must never give up hope for a miracle. We've had two of those: 1987 and 1991.

ive been following him a little this summer on http://www.eteamz.com/patneshek/index.cfm
and aparently he is doing well in his recovery. i know he wont become a starter, but with crain being hit of miss, and mijares still getting the hang of things, it will be nice to have neshek as an option. although his pitching style is unconventional, i love to see the batters get caught looking at strike 3 due to his release point. he makes some batter look rather silly. gotta love twins baseball.

What's with the namby-pamby nature of PiPress Twins coverage lately? The Twins pitching staff is not "beleagured." They suck. They are "hapless," not "beleagured." Blackburn is not "hard-luck." He sucks. He is "struggling," "over-matched," "incompetent," not "beleagured." If we can't have a baseball organization that is willing to do what it takes, could we at least have press coverage that can say "manure" when it has a mouthful? By the way, that's "manure," not "chocolate souffle," OK?

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Pisces

This is another good day to be tactful, and if anything you'll be even more successful than you were yesterday. This is not to be sneezed at, so seize the opportunity to talk to people who can sometimes be very touchy or who need to be handled with kid gloves. If you meet someone who's older or more influential than you, you'll be a big hit with them.
