Atlanta Braves

Minaya's move for Francoeur a wake-up call to Mets

Full story: Newsday

With the trade only a few hours old, it's impossible to know what Omar Minaya really accomplished Friday by shipping Ryan Church to Atlanta for Jeff Francoeur, who must have been hated even more by his manager and front office than Church was.

How can Francouer be excited to come to this team? They're worse than the Braves, and you think he, as a power-hitting outfielder, is excited to hit in this park?

For that matter, what big time free-agent bat would be excited to come to Schitty Field? Would you want to watch your homeruns/RBIs slashed in half?

No mas los mets.
Omar must go.

This trade only goes to prove that this GM believes in the tooth fairy. As an old Doger fan I knew this chant "Wait Till Next Year!."

What this trade proves is that Mets fans don't know what they want. For weeks, we have all beenn begging Minaya to make a move. Now he makes a move and everyone is all upset. Is it a great deal - No. However, Francoeur is an upgrade over Church (more power, little better fielder with a cannon for an arm) and is five years younger and not as injury prone.

Yes, I agree with this trade. Just so I don't ever have to see a lineup with Tatis, Reed, and Evans in it is a major upgrade. The Mets are horrible with those 3 in the lineup. Get rid of some more players like Redding, Hernandez, Stokes, and Santos. They all don't have any talent. They aren't any good. Why do we have to keep watching them. And the one so called good player on this roster, David Wright, is having an awful year. He makes errors, strikes out an alarming 84 times, only has 5 homeruns. What in the world do people see in him to vote him an All-Star. The fans are blind. They talk about getting rid of Omar, well the fans are just as bad at judging talent. Please change this mess.

This guy will be with the bat like Ollie is on the mound. Both head cases and if Pendleton couldn't straighten out Francouer what makes anyone think that HoJo can?? I'm glad for Church that he is away from the incompetence of Manual and Omar.

Why is Minaya here? The man is a buffoon. The lack of depth in the entire organization is all due to his ineptitude. Give me $150mm and I'll put a team on the field better than this incompetent fool did.

Funny, but Francoeur doesn't sound like a hispanic name. And isn't he a little young for Minaya?

By the way, forget about winning. As long as the Mets remain profitable Minaya stays as GM. The Wilpons don't care about winning. Nelson Doubleday did.

Francoeur's on base percentage stinks, he swings at the first pitch constantly. His power numbers are way down from 2 years ago. The guy is from the South, probably does not want to be in NY in a huge ball park. I give him a year& then he will be gone. Everyone knows Church was a goner bacause Manuel& Bababooazard do not like him.

Can anybody say...catcher and SP??? If we pay 3/4 of his salary to Disney can we get Ollie to take tix at Space Mountain? That's where he belongs.
I'd take a guy in the Pluto suit on the mound ANY day!

Omar should have corrected this before the season started. He went into this year without a left fielder, without a back up for Delgado even thou he is 38,did not need Putz, did not sign one bench player with any power. Hoped Tatis would be as good as last year. And when all the problems started waited 2 months to do anything about it. Too late they will be about 9 games out in the lost column and no help in sight till maybe the middle of August or the end. By then the season will be over. Message to fans dont buy ticket they will learn the hard way to supply a better product if they want to make a profit.

Why does Church get a free pass from the idiot Mets fans?
Church dropped fly balls, missed third base, and got picked off in the 9th inning when trailing by 5 runs.
Dies anybody remember last year when he had one hit in the last 10 games of the season?

As a player, he was a complete bozo.

Lennon slants his writing for some reason and you idiots can't figure it out.

Mets fans are truly a bunch of cry baby mary anns
