"New York spent billions trying to get back. At long last, it did." Case in point... The series isn't WON by the Yankee's... it was PAID for... He takes the sport out of the game by making it such a money making venture. I know it's the case in all sports, in all teams, BUT that's all you hear about the Yankee's is HOW MUCH MONEY they're getting paid... It's disgusting!

I agree that these sports players get paid way too much money. Especially when we have people in this country that cannot afford to eat, pay for their presriptions. It is ludacris. I am not saying that they she get paid pennies but instead of 5 million a year how about 1 million a year and the rest of the money go to the people that are in need. FYI I am glad the Yanks won over the Phillies. My husband is a die hard Yankees fan.

I do apologize to the single mom, I was a litte rambunctious this morning. So for that I am sorry. It may not be right that people starve and can't pay their mortgages but a guy who can throw a football, hit a golf ball, or pitch a great game make millions and millions. But that's they way it is! None of us made it that way. High five your husband for me!

The headline should read Yankees buy 27th title. It took billions to buy it after spending millions didn't work for awhile.

The NHL made them give other teams like Minnesota and others revenues from t v and gate receipts, what were the Yankees to do, put an inferor product on the field so yankees broadcasts would be unwatchable?

Good pitching really does beat good hitting, and the Phillies pitching was lacking in the World Series (except for Cliff Lee, of course).
The Phillies do have an excellent team nucleus, generally speaking - hitting and pitching - and seeing them win another pennant in 2010 is a very good bet.
Hamels will be back to form next season, and so will Lidge. The'll have Lee for the whole regular season in 2010, and, Happ is only going to get better.
GO PHILLIES!

The NHL is telling the Yankees what to do?? I guess Bud Selig really has lost control of Major League Baseball.

The Red Sox payroll is way up there so get off of it. At least the Yankees didn't pay 50 million just for the opportunity to negotiate with an overrated Japanese pitcher. 27 baby......27 championships!!!

The sux's payroll is second only to the yankees, by about 50 million, a drop in the bucket when talking hundreds of millions of dollars. You would think by the way they are all crying that they were the lowest paid team in the league. But honestly, what else can the sux fan's say .....really?
