It would give the fans and players a sense of tradition and honor by retiring the number 8. Have the ceremony with Gary Carter's family and former teammates in the beginning of the season at Citi Field. Do it with class and respect with appreciation for all that Carter brought to the Mets.

Carter brought nothing to the Mutts. He was a zero on a bad team. Billy Buckner contributed more to the Muttsies in one game, than Carter did during his entire career. That, right there, is a fact ....

YOU are an "idiot"!~ YOU have no respect for the dead. How would YOU feel if we were talking about someone that YOU cared about? Think about what you said. PEACE!

Mutts should construct a monument to Billy Buckner - he was the WS MVP. Carter was a mediocre player on a mediocre team. Outside of his immediate family, his passing means nothing Get a life Mutts fans - all 5 of you.
