The key phrase is, "new tax". If they can charge us for it, it's a done deal as far as the mayor's henchmen are concerned.

I'm sure the owner of Philly's sandwich shop will gladly pay the $1000 per year for all the extra business it will bring. As far as Home Depot goes, I think they can afford it.

Do we want to grow or not? We pooed the aquarium- i'ts been quite a draw for Jenks. We pooed the Riverside plan.
I know we need better streets, bridges, etc., but wouldn't growth for the city produce a broader tax base? I'm not sure how they will work it equally for the property tax to downtown businesses. Some business that are only open in the daytime may not be fairly taxed. Or, those warehouse type buildings that won't actually see more business just because of the ballpark. I guess they could always sell out for more money than their property was worth before the ballpark! I just hope it's not named BOK Ballpark!

Jim the fishbowl hasn't had a full parking lot in along time. Yes I know when it first opened there was alot of business but I live by it and I go by on the turnpike everyday and there isn't anyone there.

Our family has been to the Aquarium, and while I realize it takes a lot of money to feed those fish.. the entrance fee is so high. I would not recommend it to anyone who comes to town, unless the are truly "well-off", and I won't go again.

I was looking forward to taking my grandaughter to the fishbowl, but I've never been able to justify the cost. The zoo is so much cheaper & you can see more & different animals there. The city government has lost touch with the people, the don't have a clue what we pay just to live.
By the way, does anyone know if the fishbowl has paid for itself yet?

If I were home depot I would leave downtown. What POSSIBLE benefit does home depot get by having a ballpark there? "Hey, let's go to the game and grab a hot dog and a........2x4?" I don't think so. This is another bad idea. The current park has parking and is easier to access.

Not only are they too far away to benifit from the stadium, their hours are such they presently would be closed during the games. I don't think it's fair to make everyone downtown pay for the stadium, but since when does the current administration care about that

I agree! Did anyone ask the average Tulsa Joe what he thought about a new ballpark? I think not. There is nothing wrong with Driller Stadium and it is very conveniently located. I think the fairgrounds commission wants to rule that entire area. Nobody asked US, the citizens what we thought about Bells either. Who represents what we want???

I was born and raised here in tulsa and am an average tax payer like everyone else. First, I think it is interesting that pepole who don't live here and pay taxes think they have a right to an opinion, but since they don't have to pay for the taxes sure they can say go for it, after all it won't come out of their wallet. Second, we haven't had a mayor in years that cares about local everyday people it all about the money and how they can get more even if they don't take their salary.(Ha, what a joke). Third have any of these people (city officials) been downtown? HELLO LOOK AROUND, do you feel safe at night? NO I guess that sound like a good reason to build something to draw people in so they can get mugged! Afterall the new MILLION dollar BOK center is HOW far for the tulsa jail? How do these people sleep at night?
