I'm sorry but this is the United States and we are a Christian Nation,Islamic traditions are something to be feared as we see the middle east exploding in terror and wars and killings. How are we as Christians supposed to trust a Muslim..just take his word for it?..Who's side are they going to take if the war reaches our shores,Christians or Muslims?..This country has been very tolerant for a long time but that time is growing short.Take your Islamic society and move to the middle east..we don't want you here.

The USA is not a nation anymore than it is a Muslim, Jewish, Budhist or even an Atheist nation. Our founding fathers gifted us with freedom of religion. Be apprised of some of their statements ..........

Every man "ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience." - George Washington (Letter to the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789)

"The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.''- James Madison (Original wording of the First Amendment; Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789).)

"As the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries." -(Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 - signed by President John Adams.)

In the spring of 1778, the Constitutional Convention was held in Philadelphia, PA. They resolved three main religious controversies. They:

Decided that there would be no religious test, oath or other requirement for any federal elected office
Allowed Quakers and others to affirm (rather than swear) their oaths of office
Refrained from recognizing the religion of Christianity, or one of its denominations, as an established, state church.
But there was no specific guarantee of religious freedom.

Jefferson was pleased with the constitution, but felt it was incomplete. He pushed for legislation that would guarantee individual rights, including what he felt was the prime guarantee: freedom of and from religion. Madison promised to promote such a bill, in order to gain support for the ratification of the constitution by the State of Virginia. In 1789, the first of ten amendments were written to the constitution; they have since been known as the Bill of Rights.

Nidal Malik Hasan does not represent the majority of Muslims anymore than David Koresh represented the majority of Christians. Extremists are found in all religions. These are misguided people who use religion for their own agenda.

I feel the same about these evangelical xtians who try to push their version of the bible, their intolerance, anger and hatred on me. Besides, we are a SECULAR nation. The door swings both ways.

How do you call someone who shouts "Allahu akbar" and starts shooting at innocent people?
If this would be the only one who did this, I'd say OK, he's a lunatic.
But there are numerous devout believers who tried something similar just this year alone, and in this country and they are all linked to a single religion, a single book and a single prophet, a single faith, and targeted premediated violence. Today it is justified by one religion, and one religion only - and it's not any of the Christian faiths.
